if the dam bursts it'll hit the m1 and within 15 minute flood that whole residential area.
our niece had the to spend the night at work in sheffield. she couldn't get out the building, savile street and the roads all around were flooded so no chance for anyone to pick her up or aything.

they are cold, hungry and miserable. a helicopter and rescue people on boats were rescuing people but they are young, fit and able so were not a priority. not sure if she is still stuck.

Canklow and Catcliffe (mentioned in the article) are just down the road from Mum in law. Thankfully she is up the hill, so she is safe. There were no houses in those two districts until the 1980's because they are flood plains. The river Rother burst it's banks 4 (?) years ago when there was a lot of flooding in the country.

i remember when there were very few houses around that area. now look at it. i am glad she is up the hill and safe.

the water is about ten feet from the door at my sisters right now.
