I fully expect an unchanged side to the one that beat Cardiff.

Brez, Cook, Spaz, KLL and Hoskins on the bench.

This is the bit i dont quite get,,,yes Barnes is our top scorer, but we are talking about three goals, of which two were pens. We are not talking about 10 or 11 in twenty games, although we might be in 17 games time, we will see...I think everyone accepts that at the start of the season, Hoskins was our number 2 striker and if he is 100% fit I dont see anything that Barnes has done to change that. Yes he has three goals, of which two are pens but he was very average against Doncaster and Portsmouth, so to answer you question, yes I would drop Barnes to bench if Hoskins is 100%, but that is a very big if and I expect Barnes to start the game.

Fair enough, but but how can we be sure Hoskins was our number 2 striker? Personally I think even if 100% fit Hoskins has to prove he is worthy of a starting spot. Would you also drop Dunk because injuries notwithstanding he wasn't in our top 2 centre backs? Bottom line is dropping barnes whilst he has scored 3 in 4 sends out all the wrong messages. In the case of starting spots Possession is 9 10th's of the law.

The new Sandaza?

From my point of view, I'm not angling for Barnes to be dropped but I would love the chance to see Hoskins play a full 90 minutes. Such are the problems of managing a team in form!

So you are really, you just dont want the flack that goes with saying it.....Very diplomatic lol....

Because Poyet chased him for ages, he scored 20 goals in a crap side last season. Barnes scored 20 in a side that created chances for fun. We really could debate this all day long. We will find out as the season goes on, its nice to have such a problem I think....As for Dunk, no he should keep his place as he has scored a 7 or 8 out of ten in my opion, in every game so far, unlike someone we could mention.....Can you honestly say you thought Barnes played well against Doncaster, Portsmouth and even the Gills come to that?....Yes he had a good game on Wednesday, how much of that was because Hoskins was on the bench?.....Like I say, nice problem to have.

Agreed, we will have to agree to disagree, as you say great problem to have.

Tomorrow is going to be the day where Lua-Lua reminds us why we were all so excited about him signing.

Brighton & Hove Albion 10 - 0 Blackpool
Lua-Lua (10)

this. well the first part anyway - I wont say no to the second although our atmosphere goes a little flat at 4 - 0 up :)

Poyet has made it very clear that he wants to rotate the squad, so I don't see that dropping Barnes would send out the wrong message at all. I see nothing wrong with resting him... But I have a hund that we may even start with three up front.

Ankergren
Calde - Dunk - Greer - Painter
Noone - Bridcutt - Dicker
Barnes - CMS - Hoskins

Whichever team you favour or Gus picks, it is incredible how many idfferent but quality options we have now.
I've got a feeling he miight go for the three strikers - if Hoskins is fit enough - with one of Sparrow or Vincelot dropping to the bench. I'm not sure he'll play the diamond at home, on that pitch.

Sparrow started at Cardiff but I think you are right and he will be on the bench with Noone - who lest we forget has been outstanding so far when given time on the pitch - will start and then give way to Kaz about the 60 minute mark.

Although I'm all for not changing a winning side, I think Gus is more about putting the team out each week which is best suited to beating the opposition in front of them. Blackpool play very attacking football so I believe Gus will play at least one of our wingers from the start to take advantage of gaps at the back.

My guess would be:

Ankergren

Calderon.....Dunk.....Greer.....Painter

Bridcutt

Sparrow.....Dicker.....Noone

CMS.....Barnes

Potentially Lua Lua in for Noone and Vincelot in for Sparrow but that's what I'd go with. Hoskins on in last half hour to ease him back in.

So he did! In that case Navs on the bench instead of Spaz!

Now that really would be going for it!! 3 strikers AND a winger? A bet on 4-3 at 80/1 wouldn't be a bad shout if we lined up like that!!

Agree with that. Basically what I mentioned but with Vincelot in for Sparrow. You are probably right about the bench too if we line up like that, although possibly Sparrow in place of Navarro? Don't really need a defensive minded midfielder on the bench if we have Vincelot and Dicker in the line-up as well as Bridcutt. One or both of them can drop back if necessary.

I absolutely agree with a previous poster who wrote something like 'who would ever have imagined this sort of dilemma'.

Hoskins , I am 100% convinced, will prove to be a terrific acquisition but give him a chance. Having returned as a sub on Wednesday after a hip injury, he will be two to three weeks off full fitness. I expect him to have some game time every match though.
