Star Wars: Episode 3

The first hour of the new one is DIRE - however, the second hour is amazing, some scenes possibily nearing the quality of the originals, especially those with locations from A New Hope in them. Also, I have the DVD, and cannot believe they dropped the scenes where Yoda returns home.

For me, 8 out of 10, largely because the first hour is gash

The first hour does leave a lot to be desired, I must admit. They could probably have played more on Anakin fighting his emotions but then they had to get through the story rather too quickly. If anything the film could have been bit longer but I imagine it had to be kept quite short, as none of the others are that long.

???

Glad you concede the point that it was clearly too short. Instead of the twenty minute round up session, which lets face it was a little reminiscent of a GCSE bitesize revision session, the whole film should have been structured around tying up loose ends.

Also to pick you up on an earlier statement- Hayden Christensen is not a good actor. The guy is more wooden than a Chelsea garden full of decking.

However I do agree with you that McGregor was annoying as f*** as Obi Wan. Its a shame because he was trying to be more like Alec Guinness than Alec Guinness.

Hayden Christensen is not a good actor - FACT. Don't understand the issue with Ewan McGregor, I think he is excellent in it. My favourite (as you may have gathered) is Ian McDiarmid as the Emporer, superb character. As for the films:

1. A New Hope - 9.0
2. Revenge of the Sith - 8.8
3. Empire Strikes Back - 8.5
4. Attack of the Clones - 8.4
5. Return of the Jedi - 8.3
6. The Phantom Menace - 7.5

I like them all - so there.

None of them are bad actors (although Kristenson or whatever his name is is ropey at times), its just that the dialogue was written in crayon judging by the cringeworthiness of it. If I was an actor, i'd have nightmares about acting it - Darth Vader is the hardest man in the universe who is reduced to Kevin the Teenager in Revenge 'I hate youuuuuuu'. 'Noooooooooooo' Also Natalie Portman is a cracking actress reduced to standing by her man with a cushion stuffed up her. Poor cow.

As I said on another thread the other day, Serenity showed exactly how the dialogue for the 1st three Starwars episodes should have been written.

Starwars 9.5
Empire 9.7
Jedi 8.0
Menace 4.0
Clones 6.5
Revenge 7

Serenity 9.0

P.S If the Jedi's are so at one with the force, how did they not realise the Emporer was Palpatine - Hardly Rocket science was it? They DESERVED to be wiped out.

Right Star Wars uber geek here :lolol: Thought the latest was ok, but far too many continuity errors in it for me to give it a high mark, a couple that really spoilt the film for me. So will give it 5 if the flaws were to be sorted, would give it 8

Care to elaborate on the 'continuity errors'? I should know enough about the films to understand what you're on about!

Right, my main one is the fact in Empire, Obi Wan says that boy is our last hope, to which Yoda replies, "no, there is another" . Well he knows as he was at the bloody birth of the twins. I know this sounds petty, but, if you watch Empire you too can be annoyed as I am.

Secondly, according to previous films and books, Vader is supposed to hunt down and destroy the Jedi. Not cross the road, and kill them. Not exactly hunting them down, although this might be rectified in the TV series.

Thirdly, in Star Wars, Obi Wan says he can't remember owning droids before, but am sure he would at least remember them. Will give benefit of doubt with this, in the fact Obi Wan wants to keep his cover.

There are others, but will not bore you all with these
:lolol: :lolol:

Hope that wins me, geekiest post of the year award

They were building the first Death Star by the end of Episode III, yet it was only just finished (and untested) by Episode IV, some 20 years later (going by Luke and Leia's age by the time A New Hope kicks off).

Now even if they were using the Wembley contractors to build the thing, 20-odd years to finish it is still rather excessive.

Hardly geekiest post of the year!
The most interesting issue is the forgetting Droid issue, which i seem to remember seeing debated on a forum somewhere quite heavily - I don't think anyone has any idea why that is.

Ob-Wan would have to be a bit of an idiot to forget about the daughter, i can't offer an explanation for it!

The first one though i'm not convinced about - the other Siths hunted down the Jedi, And Lucas was unlikely to have planned the geographical location of Vader and the Jedi temple 20 years in advance. Still, an interesting point!

That, on the other hand, appears to be a spectacular f*** up! 20 years does seem excessive, but someone will probably argue that it would take ages to built a space station that happens to resemble a moon. Or Something...:lolol:

But that wouldn't wash either. They had ANOTHER Death Star under construction and practically finished by the time Return of the Jedi kicks off - even in "real time" thats only 6 years later.

Its this kind of thing that keeps me awake at night.

The original Death Star was supposed to be built in the Maw Instalation, (Jedi Academy triology of books), and 2 were built, one proper and one prototype. Also if Bail Antillies is the Mr Big on Alderaan, then why has he got the same ship in Star Wars, as he had in Sith, its 20 years old, students have newer cars then that.
