I would guess that many of us were kids when the first films all came out so of course we are excited! Besides, this may be the only time that I can get my autistic son to go to the cinema, so if he manages to go it will be well worth it.

Hope your son loves it and that is my thought, adults enjoy a film like this through the pleasure it gives to a child.

I enjoy Star Wars based on its own merits. I don't see why adults cannot enjoy movies aimed at kids (I would actually say they are aimed at families and are not solely aimed at kids. I also enjoy Marvel Films, Doctor Who, i quite liked Pixel when i took the kids to see it. Who cares who films are aimed at if you like them you like who gives a shit if you are supposed to or not?

My Autistic son doesn't like Star Wars and i feel a little cheated by this fact :).

where's this "kids film" come from? how many kids were queuing round the corner to see the original film in 1977? just because theres lots of toys aimed at kids, doesnt meen tthe films are necessarily. its simply a scif-fi fantasy, all are welcome to escape the humdrum for a couple of hours.

Seriously, I hope I never lose the ability to enjoy childish things. Losing your inner child, that sense of imagination, freedom, fun is the last thing an adult should want to do. Star Wars is a thrilling piece of escapism, like a story round the campfire. Back to the Future is on ITV this week too back to back. Brilliant stuff. Enjoy it because of the pleasure it gives a child!? Nah, enjoy it because I am still a child on the inside!! (just a shame I'm 41 on the outside....)

Nailed on to become the highest grossing film of all time.

Jurassic World holds the record for making a billion in the fastest time in 13 days. I'd be surprised if this doesn't beat that.

I'm not overly excited by this new one but I'd like to see it. The problem is finding a cinema that isn't rammed with nerds and doesn't reek of teenage jizz and blathering 14 year olds.

I imagine most theaters in the US and many in the UK will be absolutely full for a good week.
A billion in 10 days. Just so much hype and anticipation for this film.

Do you know about the disabled friendly showings at the Duke of York's?

Don't leave it too late to order your Boba Fett costume though. There's bound to be a run on them.
