Some great players there. As it happens the ROI didn't do much of note until 1988 on the international stage. Lawrenson and Stapleton were not involved then I think.

Three men who've entered into Albion folklore, for very different reasons.

One for his brilliant managerial achievements.

One for his stylish and accomplished playing skills.

One for being one of the worst players ever seen in an Albion shirt, in a big, big pool.

Nial Quinn on the other hand was trying to impress the rest of the Irish squad with his Fergal Sharkey impersonations.

Lawrenson only qualified to play for the ROI because he liked a pint of Guinness.

As noted previously, I once gave him change for the cigarette machine in the Royal Pavillion Tavern. And John (Aden) Gillett, my fellow barsteward, commented 'did you hear that, a million pounds just said 'ere chief, you got change for the cigarette machine?'. :lolol:

Mind you, John probably looks older than Lawro now......

Stapleton's knees were completely knackered when he ambled slowly around the pitch for us.

If CH visited this thread(he probably stays well away from NSC) he might find some of the comments amusing.
