The thing you have to take into consideration when looking at those picyutes is how many games have there been with fans in terraces over the years and how many disasters or deaths has there been?

We were only asked twice to sit down on Saturday. The stewards didn't act like Nazis and those who wanted to stand were left alone for the last 80 minutes of the game.

that picture from Germany on the left hand side would be perfect! I have been to the Koln ground and experienced this and it was fantastic!

And it isn't even a matter of bringing standing back, there are many grounds at our level that still have terracing.

And those teams will never be allowed in the premiership until their grounds are all seater.

The thing you have to take into consideration when looking at those picyutes is how many games have there been with fans in terraces over the years and how many disasters or deaths has there been?

Unless of course you have friends or relatives that died in one of these disasters, and you go through hell, have you family and perhaps your life ripped apart by the loss of a family member.

Or you survived one of these disasters and still have nightmares to this day.

Or if your the FA/club in an increasingly litigious society, not waning to risk the albeit small risk of a disaster leaving you open to compensation claims that will send you to the wall.

Or if you simply value human life and think people have weird priorities if they put standing up at a football match ahead of the safety of others, even if the risk is small. I mean, how many cars go along preston road, and how many accidents have there been? Might as well let drunk drivers speed along there because the odds are in their favour.

So what about the person sitting behind you who's view your blocking ?

You buy a ticket for Withdean fully knowing that it is a`all seater ground. these are the terms as to which you buy it with full knowledge.
I buy my tickets with the same knowledge knowing i can watch the game in comfort with my young son sitting down to watch the football.
But low behold you feel its your right to go against this and sod what anyone else wants as you are going to stand up and f*** everyone else. ? how does that work ?

I fully agree that there should be be a standing and seating area to accommodate everyone, but at Withdean (unlike Bristol Rovers & others) there isn't. so it can't accommodate those who want to stand, So if you not happy with it don't go,

To go to Withdean and stand in front of those sitting down is just pure selfishness.

If a group want to all move to the back of the stand and take a chance the steward don't chuck you out , fine go for it, at least it will show consideration for others, and give the stewards further up hill walking which will at least then are less likely to do so and subsequent leave you alone as your not inconveniencing others.

f*** me are you quite finished there fella?

i am NOT going to f***ing stand up on my won, the the middle of a stand...what i WILl do is stand the whole time every1 around me does, and i am hoping that it will be the majority of the match on sat.

and i DONT go to Withdean as a rule, its a f***ing shit house with no soul, but this is a massive game so i wanted to be there. trust me, its not going to be a pleasureable trip - until 4.50pm that is if we stay up then you can sit down all you like as i will be on the pitch. :) (i guess u think thats selfish too eh?)

Some reason why standing will never come back to British football grounds.......

Get a grip mate, totally OTT.

terraces and tickets and safety these days are a million times better than the olden days.

(dont see many pictures there from european top flight games, or rugby, or concerts with people dying from recent times...funny that,)

I have asked Insider for an opinion.

f***ing hell....see what i mean about football these days... you have to post a thread ASKING a club official "ecsue me but would u mind awfully if we run on the pitch after the game"..... like he's going to say yeah of course?!!!!

its about emotion at the time, which i believe will be immense.

sorry

The question was could the league penalise us for a pitch invasion, not for permission to do it.

I used to be into Anarchy, but had to give it up.

Too many rules..

Ha. Fair enough mate.

All im saying is although we aren't celebrating a promotion, IF we do stay up considering the postion we were in a month or so ago, i really cant see people not going crazy on the last day of the season and that usually involves jumping all over the stands and nipping on the pitch... :)

It will only be immense if Carlisle are winning and we are only 1 goal up and we are screaming for the ref to blow for full time.

If however we are 3-0 up and carlisle losing by a similar score with 10 mins to go it will be a lot more relaxed finish. (hopefully!)

I always used to get a giggle at the goldstone as on the last day the announcers would come on the PA system with:
"Please remember; under no circumstances are you to come on to the pitch. Please stay off the pitch...

In the event of an emergency, we ask that you make your way onto the pitch"
They would always pair those comments.

You very nearly came up with a good analogy there. What you should have said was:
Why don't we set the speed limit down preston road to 5mph because a drunk driver had an accident 20 years ago.

Because that is what everyone seems to be saying. I don't thing anyone can justify a mass return to the old style terracing, but those pictures of the German safe standing look perfect, why is deemed safe in germany but not over here?

I know this is in very bad taste but looking at the middle picture of the crowd scenes I would like to know what the elderly gentleman thinks he is doing to the youg lad in the white t shirt with hoops.

There is a time and a place and quite frankly I don't think that's it...

Or the analogy could be, let's reduce the speed limit on preston road where there have been only occasional accidents, because there's pictures of a road in Estonia that has never seen an accident.

No entirely true as Fulham played two seasons in the Premiership with terracing before it became "unsafe".

Same with teams that get promoted to the Championship, it's safe for the first three years, before it becomes dangerous and they have to install seats.
