I know that wasn't directed at me, but there is not one game that i have been to this season that I have gone home buzzing.

Been to Every home match League/Cup and a few away matches. Yes we have been getting the results but most have been ground out.

did you ever go home buzzing when we won promotion under mcghee? we ground out EVERY result that season

if it gets us back up, with the chance to play the likes of west brom, wolves, charlton and palace, then i am more than happy

the rest of that season were wins ground out - usually 1-0 - it wasnt pretty to watch, but it did the job. if wilkins can do the same, then i will be more than happy - especially as mcghee inherrited a side top of the table and looking really good under coppell, and last season we were abolute DIRE

Palace away. Sunderland at home, West Ham away, Sheff Utd away - just off the top of my head and I'm sure in the next few mins I shall think of more including the play off semis and the final.

I didn't say I wasn't happy. It's just that I don't find our current team entertaining. I would even say that is what is affecting the gate too. People pay to be entertained, we don't have the ability to entertain and non hardcore people are easily bored.

my point was, at the moment we are playing the sort of grind out results stuff that we did to go up under mcghee - although wilkins emphasis is not so much on defence, possibly as its not as strong as our one that year was

once out of this league, the standard increases, and as such it suits a more fluid, passing, entertainment game - such as those ones you have stated. unfortunately, the physical nature of our league - especially this season with the obvious falling of standards - means that while that sort of football may be nice to watch, it wont get you out the league - as forest found last year

fair enough - but when we went up under mcghee, we didnt play entertaining football to attract the crowds. it was affective football. maybe the crowds will pick up towards the end of the season if we are in the position we are currently in

But they were all results that were ground out. The play off final was possibly the worst game of football I have ever attended. Swindon outplayed us in both play off games. I only saw Sunderland at home of the others and it was nothing special.

I had to miss a couple of months worth of games and was really impressed with what I saw on my return today. The team looks really confident, they are making a real effort to pass the ball and scored with two superb strikes. There was a passage of play in the first half when we retained the ball for about 20 odd passes - admittedly across the back line for much of it, but worked forward into a dangerous position before Robinson lost the ball. I would rather watch that kind of possession football over the dire long ball rubbish McGhee played any day of the week, plus we're getting results.

I like to think of the Albion as a side that plays football and we are really trying to do that under Wilkins. Watching some of the distribution from the back today made me proud to be a Brighton fan.

This current Albion side can play some really good stuff. I was saying this a year ago but, as they gain experince & confidence, plus the addition of the likes of Forster, they gain consistency.

On a general standard note, in days gone by, experinced old pros and ex internationals would drift down the leagues, bringing their class and experince. young players at top clubs would also drop down for 1st team football but nowadays prem wages are so high. There's so much quality sitting in reserve sides. look at the likes of Sidwell, what a waste of a career, but he'll finish a rich man.

I remember seeing Bobby Charlton & Nobby Styles, Worls Cup winners, playing league football at the Goldstone. I also remember a very old looking Johhy Haynes majestically running a game from the centre circle for Fulham, just moving up once to score.

If all the teams in this league are as good (or bad) as all the others, how come our results work out like this?

Home games against Top Half teams:- Played 4 Points 4
Home games against Bottom Half teams:- Played 5 Points 11

Away games against Top Half teams:- Played 4 Points 2
Away games against Bottom Half teams:- Played 4 Points 9

With a total of 6 Points against Top Half teams and 20 Points against Bottom Half teams, my conclusion is that teams in the Top Half of the table are much tougher opposition than teams in the Bottom Half.

I can't agree with that, yes we are getting the results, but the football that it is coming from is for the most part quite fluid and also dominant, which wasn't always the case with McGhee's side.

I do think this divsion isn't as strong as what it use to be, what with Reading, Wigan, Stoke, Bristol City having gone up there only leaves Swansea that is a club that has a real feel good factor around it that if they did go up they could unleash there potintail.
Obviously there are Forest and Leeds but they are clubs that have had big black clouds over them recently.

When we went up with Mcghee there were some good games and some very poor ones. Obvious Plymouth was good, quite enjoyed Tranmere and Wycombe on boxing day was fun.
One of the worst was Barnsley where they only thing i can remeber was Knight having to retake a penalty to win it 1-0 for us. Already relegated Notts county scoreing an own goal winner for us wasn't a highlight either.
