My formative football years came later when I was at Reading. I lived with a house of fans, and started following Brighton as a Sussex team when they were in the old new Third Division in 98-99.

That being said, I was taught to shout "Seagulls" when I was learning to talk by one of my Dad's friends; perhaps it was subliminal all along.

That's a dilema I face every time the crown arcs up at a WCE game (for whom I'm a season ticket holder) with the call of Eagles Eagles - I just can't do it, or I shout Seagulls and get funny looks

That makes two of us. Moved to Brighton when I was a year old then to Southwick until aged 14. Have lived in various parts of Wales for the last 30 years.

Although I was born & grew up in Brighton I have lived 'oop north' (various places, now Stockport again) for 40 years including college. As a result my sons have kept the faith and travel to games as often as they can:
Son No 1 - Born Stockport, lives Solihull
Son No 2 - Born Stockport, lives Rotherham
Son No 3 - Born Rotherham, lives Nottingham

You should the different accents when we all get together - they do struggle with the pronounciation of some of the songs !
