"Stand Up If You Hate Palace"

I remember doing this when I was about 9 years old in the first season at Withdean. Why should it be stopped? I heard it loud and clear on the radio and it sounded brilliant. We hate Palace. They are our rivals. Why not express our hatred for them? If we keep trying to pick and choose when songs should/shouldn't be sung, all it will do is endanger any kind of atmosphere at the Amex.

This. Anyone who raises objections to Palace songs is a JCL or clearly hasn't followed the Albion very long and doesn't appreciate the complete and utter animosity that exists between Brighton and the scum.

Points for and against could be argued. I will suggest you keep the song if only because if you think you're the only club who does something like this then you're mental. We don't shut up about pompey no matter who we're playing :wanker:

It's a chant that makes me cringe every time i hear it , especially knowing Palace don't care, out of interest do Palace sing a similar one about us?........ I doubt it.

Pompey don't do it about you lot though, Shows who the bigger club are in my opinion. One thing though at Least you and Pompey have a proper rivalry.

I'm going to assume you're implying Saints are the biggest club based on the fact that I have selective reading and anything else is totally anethema to what my rose tinted goggles tell me. :flounce:

As soon as this is sung I just think that we have run out of ideas.
and it was sung 3 times in the first 25 minutes or so yesterday. Bad times.

I don't have a problem with the song, but this and west/north, right/left songs are being overused to a ridiculous degree. We have plenty of songs that are easy to sing, what is it with these two? They don't even support the team on the pitch either, just fans wanking each other off.

Don't really get this. Palace don't care? Of course they care we hate them it's called a rivalry. Yes they do sing songs about hating us and it's part and parcel of football chants. Virtually every team up and down the country, around the world sing songs about their bitter rivals even when not playing them? I agree it should be sung only a few times in a match not like 5 or 6 times but like f*** should we stop singing this chant, it's not cringy in the slightest.

Why can't songs be sung about the team/players/manager rather than other teams and which stand you are in?? Yes some will say it creates a good atmosphere, but I have no doubt the same could be done for songs which are relevant to the team and players.

Spot on.

Songs that back our players/team/manager can possibly make a difference to them.

Songs about which stand we're in are either neutral or (when they lead to booing because another stand doesn't join in) negative.

Songs about a team that aren't even in the stadium are neither here or there.

No we sing stand up if you love palace, not often though.

I think you should keep singing it, it made me laugh last night after waiting for what seemed like hours for our 1 minute of fame on the FLS last night that the first thing you heard when they cut to the game was "brighton take it up the bum, with a nik nak etc"
we sing about you every game..... without fail :p

It's a self-defeating chant. How many people actually stand up for it? Less than 20%. Which suggests a good 80% don't hate Palace!

It was pretty loud and well supported in the first few minutes when we visited, sounded awesome. you should have kept it up ;)

I agree. The context is slightly more relevant if we're actually playing your team. :)
