So basically they buy domain names and resell them for a higher price?

Im sure there was a case of someone who brought the 21st century fox domain and sold it on at a mahoosive profit.

how does that not make sense TLO? the bloke does'nt like the word Community (neither do I for the record, I think its abit GAY!), makes perfect sense to me!

Interesting you say that it's a bit Gay. I was going to to say that when I posted this thread. I to think Community in the name sounded a bit gay but decided not to as some on here would have jumped down my throat.

So yes agree with you, I think it sounds Gay........there, said it now !!

So you don't like the word 'Community' in the stadium title because you find it a bit odd or a bit queer, or maybe even - yes, I'm taking a leap here - a bit embarrassing.

Thank you. That's all I was asking.

Don't be naive, the dot com version of that was purchased monday of this week, guess who owns it!

amexcommunitystadium.com registerd on monday to PHOENIX FLOORING LTD based in Portslade :lolol:

however, amexcommunitystadium.co.uk is registerd to American Express on 22 April. i dont supppose someone did that for a laugh, though they dropped a bollock on the .com.

It's wrong because it's not for the f**king comunity, it's for the mighty Seagulls to play football in! (plus the occasional gig). Anyway, I thought the school/college/academy bit, whatever it was called, lost it's funding? We might have had to play the community card when we were trying to get planning, but it's nearly finished now so we can ditch all the PC crap!

How about The f*** Off Palace Stadium, much better than some la dee da community crap!

Bloody hell, does it really matter what its called?

The important thing to remember here is that its being built!

5 years ago we all would have called it 'The Bum Shaggers Stadium' aslong as the bloody thing got built in the end!!!

what is wrong with The Amex Community Stadium???

the word amex for a start, it's funny how we survived for over 100 years with out having to play at The Ovaltine in conjunction with Balsams Specific Goldstone Ground or even Withdean Skint Stadium, naming rights for a stadium is wrong, along with shirt sponsorship, Whats next, changing our name to Brighton and Hove Coca Cola? (see what happened to SV Austria Salzberg)

well I work for Amex and I'd be AMAZED if this is true. The only way it could be possible is if it was part of the deal with Brighton and Hove Council for Carlton Hill school to be demolished.
1) We've got no money for this sort of thing. We have had no budget for Christmas parties for years and made loads of staff redundant last year.
2) Things get overblown - i.e Headline from the internal news I saw today said "Amex help organize the Marathon" and on reading it said "by having a volunteer station at mile 25". So did the Church on Holland Road. They also said thanks to the runners from Amex. That was me and none of the bosses even sponsored me! Tightwads!
3) No-one high up in Amex is from Brighton. Or English.
4) American Express will sponsor Wimbledon every year, but Football? really?
5) Everyone from Amex will be showing their pass at the gate trying to get in for free
6) Amex have outstanding business sense, and if there is no profit, they will not be interested, regardless of the work for the community they happily publicise (which involves staff volunteering, not AMEX funds)
7) Amex have a deal with the Corn exchange for free use in exchange for the charity work, so don't need the venue for anything.

well I work for Amex and

well i dont know if all of that is correct, but i do wonder how much corporate gain their would be from this tie in. 3rd div club in the corner of the country, not really going to be top day for corporate hospitality at the international business level is it. and yeah, football isnt exactly the natural bedfellow of finance (though might have said the same of insurance, then AIG came along).

but the amexcommunitystadium.co.uk domain has been registerd, so seems it might be on the cards.

you quoted the only bit that's 100% true, the rest is my opinion.

anyway the latest Amex slogan is perfect for Falmer as it happens - Realise the potential.
