Given the amount of time that it has taken to get to Falmer I would like us to set an example of how a stadium should be build to minimise the impact on the environment. Given that I am now living in an area with no running water and am reduced to using "grey water" to flush my toilet, it got me thinking, why can't they do the same at a football stadium, surely it isn't that difficult to collect and store rainwater.

On to the catering side, I also hope that we can offer an alternative from greasy burgers and pukka pies. How about having our own catering company, sourcing as much of the ingredients locally (reduces the carbon footprint), benefit of this is that it should be cheaper and all the profits can be ploughed back into the club. A few people have asked that Harveys be served at the ground, brilliant idea, the brewery is only a few miles from the ground...if there are restaurants, why not serve wine from Sussex too?

This is a brilliant opportunity to show how a large sports stadium can be built in keeping and sympathetic with its environment, please, please, please don't miss the chance to set a good example...particularly to our detractors.
i hope local catering companys get a chance to tender,i would love to provide, baqs, sarneys, bombay pot, homemade pies etc etc

That is exactly what I mean empire, surely it wouldn't be beyond the realms of possibility to have most of the food and drink either sourced or produced locally...I believe they do something similar at Norwich, mind you they do have Delia on board to organise it all.

I would like some kind of bathroom / shower facility for use by fans after the game, along with a locker room. That way, I can bring along a change of clothes with a few toilettries, and after the game I can go and get showered and changed, leave my matchday clothes in the locker, and go straight into town to celebrate our latest 3 points. Saves me faffing about going home first then coming back out again, AND it would help stagger the dispersal of fans after the match.

Communal showers will be fine. I have nothing to hide.

Great idea. I want that! I want that! But, Easy, surely you have SOMETHING to hide?!

Big screens with replays etc.

Front row of seats raised above ground level (like Charlton's - and our South Stand) so that people's views are not obscured by police/stewards/photographers/TV Cameras.

Decent food .. why not jacket potatoes, curry, decent salads etc as well as the standard football ground fare. Just as quick and easy.

A members bar for fans where it's possible to have a drink and food before and after the game while watching a bit of telly and nattering. Encourages people to arrive early/leave late and helps ease congestion.

Spot on!

Oh.. and please, please, please... assuming we have a super duper sound system, let;s have it at a level that doesn't obliterate all conversation and pre-match atmosphere.

If it's going to be really loud, then a few gaps would be nice at big games to let the fans have a sing. The PA systems at the biggest grounds wreck the atmosphere.

And again!

And absolutely NO music to celebrate goals. It's pathetic, chavvie and just not Brighty's style.

Building it to be 'green' is a must.

I'd much rather it was built to be blue and white

Obviously it must have a New North Stand. Don't think Forfars will want to do any baking for us? Delia can help with the pies, which were much appreciated BUT not the Norwich failing floodlights. Draught Harveys is a must - not all Lewes hates us. They might even brew a Seagull Special.

Given that most people tend to arrive for a 3pm k/o anywhere from, say, 2:30-ish-3pm, and then are on their way again by 5pm at the latest, why the obsession with food and catering??

Its a given that stadium food is (a) expensive (b) of questionably quality and (c) doled out from a greasy wagon by people who treat you like you don't exist, or have just ruined their day, if not their entire life, depending on how busy they are.

You're only there for a couple of hours, not the whole weekend! Eat something decent in town before you go, or go out for something to eat afterwards.

Football stadium catering has to be the biggest piss-take going.

Alot of people like to have a good drink before the game and arrive as late as possible with intentions of grabbing a bite to eat inside the ground. What about on a freezing day? Nice portion of chips and a hot drink.
