All very predictable. When in Rome…

is there any value in passing the hat round for these lads? There are always gonna be extra expenses not to mention the money taken, cost of replacing a passport for a start?
I’ll happily kick off with a score (I’m just not good at organising this type of thing)
I'm happy to chuck in a score, too. At least he can buy himself some comfy cushions.

Can we find out the extent of the injury before collecting enough money to send his kids to private school ?

1 bum cheek (aprox 20 stitches)= £400
2 bum cheeks (aprox 40 stitches) = £1000

Then £10 per extra stitch etc ….
Perhaps enough could be raised to at least cover the cost of his trip? That would soften the blow, somewhat. Does anyone know how to set this up?

I hope the lads who were hurt today manage to get to the game tonight and to all our guys & girls out in Rome today stay safe. When going away in Europe its a choice of staying with a large crowd and sticking together or just hanging with a couple of mates - both could bring unwanted problems.

Silly old bat
Really sorry to hear about this, and trust that everyone involved gets the help and support that they need.

Let's hope that this wasn't football related in any way.
Thank you.
There are quite several Palace fans on X that I've blocked today who are revelling in it.

I paid just €15 euros for a bum cheek on Tuesday night.

We have a reciprocal arrangement with EU countries with regard to emergency treatment under the GHIC scheme. The NHS will pay

'Cover for emergency and medically necessary healthcare is part of a wider healthcare agreement struck with the EU that will see continued cooperation on healthcare for UK residents.

If a UK resident is traveling without a card, they are still entitled to necessary healthcare and should contact the NHS Business Services Authority (NHS BSA) (which covers the whole of the UK), who can arrange for payment should they require treatment when abroad'

It is difficult for football authorities though. If you start punishing clubs for incidents away from the ground on a different day, where does it stop? Should Albion be punished if there’s trouble at the station when we play Palace? It’s a huge can of worms to open.
f*** it, let’s all be stabbed. If fifa host a match in a n unsafe city then it is on them. They should warn travelling fans not to go.

That's good to know, but it would be nice for him to have something to take the sting out of the tail....so to speak.

I'll add onto this my advice from earlier:

"If anyone gets injured/ill and needs to go to a public hospital take your passport and EHIC/GHIC. If you don't have an EHIC/GHIC then you can apply for a provisional replacement certificate by calling DWP or online at

You'll likely need your national insurance number and an email that the DWP can send the PRC to for the hospital."

Most major cities are unsafe in places. Rome is an example. As our Roma friend says, the area they were in is unsafe for most locals. It's a problem for tourists generally that any of us can fall victim to.

I don't find that satisfactory. Going on about them being in the wrong area is just blaming the victims. This isn't a general tourist issue. It's not bad luck that the person stabbed happened to be a football fan.

Foreign football fans have been getting stabbed in Rome for being foreign football fans for some time now. It continues because nobody does anything about it. Fans need to demand more of football authorities to take action.

Not always, when I had to go into hospital in France I had to pay about 20%
This would still be under the Reciprocal Healthcare Agreement.

The difference being French Citizens have to pay 20% of their healthcare costs and as such we also have to pay that when we are there.

A lot of travel insurance companies will waive their excess fee when you're treated under RHA and will cover the 20% in France.

Worthing
I remember Smudge saying that they’re are more cheats, liars, thieves etc per square mile in Rome than anywhere else. My dad told me the best whore he had was in Rome at the end of the war.
Yeah I know.
…. I know a lot about Rome…. both sides.
