great game but could do without so much excitment tomorrow

was quite a few spurs fans from where i was sat that walked out when villa went 4 1 up

I watched in a pub full with Spurs fans (in Hove, actually - just down from the bus station) and as a neutral it was great fun, a very amusing game. Some of their fans at the pub, walked out at 1-4 as well

At 1-0, my Spurs pal reckoned Villa would probably win 3-1, and at 1-2, I said it was going to be another "typical TH goalfest". They are just the clowns in the Prem circus, great fun to watch them fool and bumble around. I doubt that the relatively happy-ending for Jol will save him now though - it more underlined what he has got Spurs doing wrong.

Keane did more in defence than anyone else, Huddlestone was outstandingly rubbish, and Agbonlahor could do the same things for 12 hours and Spurs would still be confused and not know how to mark him.

What would work for both parties, is for them to get Coppell, imo - or at least someone like him who will do more work on the gameplan than "that should work".

How does that work? Surely 'coaching' covers 'tactics' amongst other things?

Sorta begs the question "what does a coach do?" then.
Is Jol good at accumulating decent players (job for scouts?), keeping them fit (fitness coach?), but shite at deploying them?

That match also brings a few questions over Martin O'Neill's management too - 4-1 and you shut up shop and bring on a defender for a striker.

I meant more in the British sense of a manager rather than a European coach. I would say a coach is someone who does the day to day working on the technique and fitness of the players while a Manager comes up with the tactics for a game.

I'm not so sure about that - these things do happen from time to time. MON should be concerned if conceding 3 goals in the last 20 minutes was a regular occurrence at Villa. IMO, if there is a a question over MON's management, I think it is how will they react to that result?

Well seeing as those 4 goals were the only ones O'Neill's side have scored on the road this season, I think the questions are already there without having to look at the next game. He's experienced enough, he shouldn't need to be 'awoken' by the Spurs result.
He got the team to score 4, on the road - yet the tactic to retain that solid lead they chalked up in the 59th minute; Harewood came on in the 66th. From there, Chimbonda got one. Then Gardner came off, Harewood gave away a totally daft pen, which Keane put away. From there, the tails were up, as Spurs could see an opportunity to save face - and save it they did in the 92nd minute.

Sure, hindsight is 20/20, but it does beckon one to consider the tactics of a manager who's side were 4-1 up.
