I believe this was a particularly tricky fixture to sort out due to a number of factors. The specific reason given for why the fixture couldn't be reversed is that it would have meant that Man City would have to play three consecutive away games later in the season which goes against the PL's fixture policy, not withstanding the fact that City would have been well within their rights not to agree to such an arrangement.

The fact that turning the stadium / pitch around inside 24 hours was the best available option (and evidently, it's still a poor one) tells you there weren't many choices available.

Thank you Richard Scudamore.

Then Citeh should have been allowed to play this fixture at home and then play the reverse fixture at home too. In fact all teams playing Spurs between now and year end should now be allowed to decide where they want to play until the stadium is fit for purpose. Make Spurs pay for their ridiculous claims they'd be ready in September!

Clever move but don't you think those clubs that might be in the mix for the title might object if one of their rivals has two home fixtures against Spurs and they have to play away!

Nobody seems to have pointed a finger at Sky yet. The game could have been re-arranged for later in the season but Sky insisted on live coverage of this fixture this weekend rather than pick another game once it became known that it couldn't be played on Sunday.

It’s all on Levy.

Why should everyone be bending over to help Spurs out ? They've already had the fixtures tailored to cater for the fact it wouldn't be ready in August, and they've also somehow circumnavigated the rule about not being allowed to play home games at more than 1 venue during a season (they've now played in 3 different ones). There shouldn't be any more re-arrangements for them whatsoever. This stadium fiasco is purely their cock-up. Its been blatantly obvious for most of the year that it was going to be nowhere near ready, yet they still went ahead selling tickets and season tickets for it knowing full well those games would end up being binned off to Wembley.

Personally I think the PL should just tell them to complete the season at Wembley, stop pissing everybody about, and get their house in order for the start of next season.

Just watching it - it is pretty bad

It was bad, but that's Spurs' problem/fault. Not Wembley or NFL who've had this arrangement in place for a long time.
Also, it's ironic too - given that Spurs have been courting the NFL to presumably usurp Wembley as the ground of choice.
And finally, why is it any more embarassing than when Boxing/gigs screw up the middle of the pitch?

Wembley is a multi-event arena for financial sustainability, and Spurs are the lodgers who've stayed too long.

I love the irony of two of the richest clubs in the world, playing in the richest league moaning about the unacceptable state of the Wembley pitch, the sale of which (in theory at least) could have helped Grassroots football pitches across the land..

True... it's not like it hasn't been clear all along that New White Hart Lane was nowhere near as ready as Levy/Spurs claimed. And if Spur's chosen alternative is not available then tough luck on Spurs.

Spurs have been allowed to get away with monumental c**k up because because they are Spurs... pretty sure clubs such as, say, us or Burnley wouldn't have been given the same latitude!

The Premier League would not have allowed the postponement. The NFL would have Wembley booked already for the weekend so the game would have been played on Monday even if Sky had chosen a different game to show. You can't blame Sky for taking the game as they already had all their cameras etc set up there so reduces their costs.
