Spurs v. Le Woolwich

Well Silva isn't a first teamer. And Fabregas didn't start. So that's 3 first teamers - not really a convincing argument is it.

In fairness this is still a great result/performance for Spurs, but only because we know that Arsenal's Carling Cup teams are capable of great things. However, we shouldn't lose sight of the fact that they're the only team in the country that can play a second string outfit and compete with other decent premiership sides. Any Spurs fan getting carried away should surely recognise that Arsenal's full strength side would probably beat them over 2 legs, no?

You can only beat the team that's on the pitch. I am now back home with a massive grin on my face & as the bloke behind me said the only kids the Arse have got are in the back of Wenger's van...

5-1, we beat the scum 5-1...

I shall shortly be wandering over from N8 to N17 to watch the mightly Spurs RUN Wenger's rent boys all the way back to Dial Square.

Would any one care to post a few predictions to amuse me on my return?

Do you drink in The Park before games perchance? I know it's a massive Spurs pub. Just opposite my office.

And you are still going to made to wax your legs, BRETT. :D

Maybe, just maybe - but I am glad you are feeling happy your 2nd team of choice beat your rivals reserve team for the first time this millennium :D

I think its brilliant, Spurs beat Arsenal for the fitrst time in 20+ matches, played some great football, scored 5, the atmoshpere was rocking, they get to a final, and the back page of the sun is.......

2 Arsenal players shout at each other

And there's also a cheeky pic of Charlie Oatway just one page in from the back page of the Sun. ;)

I suppose Spurs can only beat what's is front of them, it's not their fault that Arsenal were a team of fringe players. And if Arsenal had won (like they did last year), their fans would have been crowing as if it really had mattered to them.

Cool. Now NSC's Spurs fans have something to shout about for the first time in, well, God-knows how many years perhaps they'll f*** off to Tottenham messageboards.

Indeed, Arsenal put out pretty much the strongest team they could with the exception of Flamini, Almunia. (edit) and Rosicky

Fabregas came on after 17mins as well.

As a gooner(must whisper that) i have to say i would have LOVED to have got to wembley this year but in a way there is a positive twist on this.

so far all the youngsters that have played for arsenal in the carling cup have ALWAYS won. whats so bad about that, you may think.

I personally feel a good 5-1 like last night will give them a little bit of a reality check. Basically, over 2 seasons of carling cup football the reserves have STROLLED their way up to the semis(including easy wins at everton, against a full strength team, which is no easy result) and even threatning to win the final against a full strength chelsea team.

This can only be good in the development of the young players. epecially when you consider we brought on 'experienced' cesc fabregas when losing....and he is only 20. Times are good indeed.

Spurs points telly = 27
Arsenal points tally = 54

First win in 22 attempts.

The best thing about this victory was Spurs fans looking like they had won the league when all this really gets them is an appearance at Wembley where they will lose 2-0 to Chelsea.
