Consequently, there is also talk of Tottenham playing some matches at a ground outside London....

Is it just me or is that report really poorly written?
Looks like a media studies student's effort.

would agree with that

But Wembley want a lot of money to hire the stadium and Tottenham may only consider it worthwhile that top matches, such as the derby with north London rivals Arsenal, are played there.

why are they building a new stadium when theres going to be a huge one over in stratford? beggers believe that neither they, or West Ham, are interested. i heard it mentioned that the olympic authority sounded out bloody Leyton Orient about taking it on. great white elphant.

I love the fact that Mihir Boses 'Inside track on sport' is only ever about Arsenal or Spurs. Considering the no doubt hugh wages that the BBC are paying him after tempting him away from the Telegraph you would've thought he could manage a bit of a wider remit than two local London clubs, even if he is a Spurs fan!

The Stratford stadium would end up with a capacity of about 20-25,000 for football purposes after the event. Not enough for Spurs/West Ham, and obviously way too big for Orient.

Not sure where they could play that's outside of London. Reading? MK Dons? Other stadiums are too far away or too small.

Milton Keynes would probably fit the bill as I'm guessing Spurs have a fair few supporters in the void between N London and the Midlands

In fact they could move there permanently, change their name to MK Spurs.

I'm sure no one would mind. :)

and that planned reduction cant be altered? it seems highly political and stupid that no deal has been sought to bring one of them in at the end, with a suitable capacity. instead they will each build new stadiums while the reduced 25k capacity stratford stadium will be half empty when hosting the occasional athletics event.

I'd like to see White Hart Lane redeveloped, but I can't see how you could fit 52000 people into the site, and how the local transport could cope with it? It is bad enough with 36,000 fans!

Agreed. He always seems to arrange nice little overseas jollies for himself and his standard of journalism is not any better (and probably worse) than our own Mr. Naylor?
