IMHO it's a much-underused thing, synchronised phone use. Personally I will love it (said in a Kevin Keegan accent, finger thrusting for added emphasis) if the whole of the North Stand were to load and deploy the same vuvuzela ringtone. Marvellous sounds!

I did enjoy when we did the light show before our first Europa game where it wasn't even dark when we did it

It's a football match not a pop concert.
As someone who goes to away games I notice how other teams build up the crowd.
Forest & Sheffield for instance, play their 'big' song seconds before kick off. Quick fade down leaves the crowd singing as the game starts.
Liverpool play YNWA once the players are on the pitch.
Indeed I think Brighton are the only club to play our singalong music as the teams come out.
As for the pre-match stuff. Fan zone needs a rethink and I hoped it would be done over the winter break. The long queues at the kiosks mean the seats are empty with 5 minutes to go before KO these days. RR is the right bloke for the anouncing, he isn't loud or 'West Stand - Are You Ready' kind of stuff.
As for Hey Jude, for gods sake dump it. It seems to be the theme tune for every away club. Man Utd don't play GOSBTS before KO so get rid of Hey Jude (unless we can get Sir Paul on the pitch to sing it).

Wonder how long it will be before the god awful ‘kiss cam’ or similar is given a go
So we will be able to enjoy:

The national anthem just before kick off.
Rather than players coming out together in two lines, each player individually introduced to the crowd with their own theme music, and an individual light show if a night game
T-shirts and other freebies fired into the crowd
Pizza delivered to your seat
Free seat upgrade for one lucky fan from the back of the stands to pitch side

And time outs (commercial breaks) for two minutes every 15 minutes

Have I missed anything?

It’s a good list but what about a hotel bed in the stands like Chelsea tried few games back.

Not sure why people think all this is necessary. It seems to me that the modern pre match entertainment has increased at the same time as match atmosphere has diminished. Could these be connected?

Doesn't look bad although a bit gimmicky. It's certainly a million times better than our cringeworthy 'Fans Zone'. I do quite like our flame throwers though.

I do like a flare apparently players do to.
And when they go together

But that's what the clubs – and the PL – want it to be like, pure entertainment. Mainly for the people MILES away from the ground – they are just the pawns/lemmings as part of the act. Look at us here, discussing it on a rival fan's forum two days after the actual game! Nowt to do with us, but you can bet that the whole thing went viral on all the social media channels and that's all that matters.

But I have no issue with it at all. Life's too short to get all frothy about a few mobile phone torches and a few tunes :rave:

I've been going to NHL games since the 80s and difference in the "experience" has done a 180 for the worse. I wish what you described was the least of it. The t-shirt cannon crap, karaoke cams, celebrities waving to the crowd have become a bigger draw than the game. Most games are quiet until play stops then the crowd gets excited for whatever entertainment is coming at them. The New York Rangers actually show a entertainment schedule on the arena screen before the puck is dropped. It's worked well for the owners though, ticket prices are at all time highs and games are packed. I dont see how this will stop creeping into football.

This reminds me of a basketball game I saw, Memphis v New York Knicks. When telling people of the game I say it's a fun night out spoilt by a bunch of tall guys occasionaly bouncing a ball on the court!
I was a tourist and a novice on the rules of NBA so all the entertainment really made it a fun night out. T Shirts being shot up via a tank (not real), T Shirts being dropped from the ceiling on parachutes, someone using Amex being dragged from the back to courtside seats, Kiss'O'Cam plus loads more stuff. And the popcorn. How do Americans put away so much of the stuff, huge buckets full of the stuff every break in the entertainment.
