I have been in there a couple of times and it is dead but I do not mind as you do not have to wait long to be served.

Anyone know the answer to my second question?

Thanks for that...Do their doorman take position at 11:00am as or do they come along later?

I want to know why you need to know! Are you bringing a gang of Millwall fans? A police horse? Are you banned for previous bad behaviour?

They were there last week at 12 midday, if that's any help.

Yes I am bringing Millwall fans and they are the sort who will not cause trouble. But I know at definately 2 games this season (Leeds & QPR) the doorman will only allow admittance to the pub if you are in possession of a ticket for an Albion part of the ground.

This problem can be overcome with a bit of imagination but it would be a lot easier if I knew so we could get in before the doorman get there to save any arseing about.

Like I said, these Millwall fans will not cause trouble but knowing doorman like I do they won't listen.

Good point but when I finnish drinking I want a short journey to the ground instead of coming in from somewhere else.

I also like to get in somewhere and settle down. Yeah, I will give them a call.

I suspect it will be home fans only for this one, I seem to remember that was the case last time we played millwall.

How come no one goes in there after games? Or do they? After the Sunderland game it was like a morgue.

I tried to go in but I was with a couple of Sunderland friends and the bouncers wouldn't let us in. Did they really think that there would be trouble? It's not as though it was a group of lads, just 3 married couples, aged between 34 and 45! I guess we must have looked like hooligans.

still, their loss was the Walkabout's gain. Lots of :drink: going on and I never regretted saying "winner pays for drinks" before going to the mathc.

I was there last week and there were loads of S'land fans inside. Must have been a different bouncer on the door when they came in.

I'll never understand why anybody uses The Sportsman on match-days. Hundreds of deeply decent pubs in Brighton, you got a free travel voucher in your pocket to use on train or bus, and still people submit to the crappiness of having bouncers look you up and down like a criminal (don't you get enough of that from the stewards INSIDE the ground?) and letting you in two at a time and all for the dubious pleasure of queueing six deep at the bar. Total bunch of arse!

The Long Mans alright if your rich, big screen for the sky lunchtime game and Harveys

Couldn't agree more. There have been occasions at midweek games when due to running late, the Sportsman has been the only option. On a Saturday when I have time, I wouldn't go near the place out of choice. Some of the staff there need to attend charm school!

The only reason I can think of is thats its easy. It's like meeting your mates in London and suggesting All Bar One in Leicester. You're not going to be there all evening but the chances of anyone getting lost trying to find it are remote.

The staff in the Sportsman are dead grumpy. I don't like the place much - unless it's kicking off an NSC Sponsored match. :clap2: :clap2: :clap2:

I know the Sportsman isn't great but it will do. Also my Millwall mate has never had trouble getting in before when they have been here but he was just checking.

I thought there were a few Millwall fans in the Sportsman last time. A few of them were singing by the bar just before kicking out time!
