Nice to see the return of TinTin. He seems as confused as to what to do as ever........conflicted between his new job and old, old loyalties. Love this series. I can pretend I understand the French, in reality I get about 5 per cent of it.

Loved all the previous series.

Have found this one so dull and boring.

Previously Roban, Karlsson and other lawyers, had helped make it not just another tough cops chasing baddies show.

I think the story lines around Roban and Karlsson have been excellent in this series, and Roban is just a wonderful character.... and a fine actor.

The whole thing is superb.

Agree about this being one of the best cop dramas ever.

Set in Paris, but not the parts that tourists see; this is set in the grim outskirts and sink-estates full of drug-dealers and criminal gangs.

I don't think this series is quite as good as the previous ones, but it's still much better than 99% of the dross on TV these days - soap operas, Reality TV, celebrity cooking programmes, inane quiz shows, etc.

Oh, another great foreign (subtitled) cop drama started a few days ago; series 2 of The Team, on Channel 4

And in case anyone missed it a few years ago, The Tunnel was brilliant to - it was openly inspired by the Danish crime drama The Bridge.

We had seen subsequent series of the Tunnel but not the first one, which we downloaded over the weekend. Great stuff!

Roban has been the star for me, from the start of Spiral. So involved, I didn’t want his forced retirement (or death from cancer, when he fought that).

Thanks for heads up regarding The Tunnel, I hadn’t heard of that at all. We don’t get Sky Atlantic with cable TV, a ploy I understand to arm-twist more punters into getting a dish.

With Sky Atlantic’s Fortitude (starring Sofie Grabol & Richard Dormer), we later bought Blu-ray discs.

Formidable.

Although with seemingly two of the main bods out of the way, S8 may be a challenge.

Just caught up with the last episode. It really was just excellent in every respect. The story, the acting (without exception), the photography, the direction.

Will miss Roban, presuming he really is out of the picture now.

He is. And TinTin too.

I'll miss Roban, purely for the fact that I barely need subtitles listening to him - I understand nearly every word. Marchard is even clearer.

Laure and Gilou, on the other hand, are unintelligible ...

Being a French speaker myself, I get where you're coming from!
