Speeding prosecution, advice needed

Oooh - a tad harsh.

Many speed limits seem to be set with the deliberate intention of trapping the driver........inappropriately placed for example, and sometimes it can be as dangerous watching your speed on a clear road when you should be watching what is fgoing on outside the car! I am an advocate of manufacturers limiting the power of a car rather than creating something that because of its power is harder to drive within the speed limit than not. Why can't they have in-built audible speed alerts at 30/40/50 (most common speed limits) and then a limiter over 70. The cost would be negligable

I have often made the point though that the vast majority of speeding tickets seem to quote the 36mph figure...not all of course but a significant number. I do sometimes think that if more drivers challenged when the police equipment was last calibrated there would be a lot get off. The trouble is to do so costs you more and creates more risk of a larger penalty.

Rant over :censored::lolol:
i dont think so, the end result of speeding in these types of areas is an injury or possible death ,ive seen a fatal road accident first hand and i have no time for speeding drivers

What was the date of the offence and what was the date you received the notice of intended prosecution? They have 14 days to issue you with the notice from the date of the offence. ALWAYS worth checking that-also make sure ALL the details are correct such as your name, address and reg number etc.

The same with the ones from the jct of M25 and M1 going north. It is like the variable speed and lane restrictions on the M25 near Heathrow if everybody sticks to it there is no problem everybody moves through at a reasonable speed the problems occur with the prats who lane hop.

Can you not claim you sent it back and that they lost it....or that it never arrived with you ?

Then it will fall out of the 3 week time thing ?

Is it worth a go....bet they never chase them up...

There'll be a nice hike in the old insurance premiums next time you renew, courtesy of the 3 pts :(

Would have thought you then run the risk of the fine being increased, as it does if you don't pay within 21 days. I'm pretty sure it's all computerised anyway, so would be followed up, but can't swear to it.

If it was that easy (ie claiming you never received it, or your reply got lost in the post) then the whole world would do it, surely.

I would suggest not trying to dispute that you were the driver as per Zamora and Sherrigham because I got done for jumping intoa bus lane going to QPR v BHA a couple or so years ago and disputed it. The photo was so clear that you could read the BHA badge on the polo shirt that I was wearing.

I have 3 SP30s so have to be so careful now, though one expires in August. The way they write to you and tell you they might consider letting you plead guilty by letter, but it is really up to them made me sick, as did the big rise in my insurance premiums (you should tell your insurance company otherwise your insurance will not be valid if you claim or someone claims from you)
