My course was only three hours and cost £60, no driving but just discussing the plainly bleeding obvious with some arorgant fat twat. There were 20 people attending and there were six sessions a day - the £60 went to pay for the courses expenses apparently and didn't make any profit allegedly:jester:

I don't think you're always given the choice to do the course so when you are I suggest you take it.

The list of courses dotted around the country I can attend differ massively in cost. One place is used by two forces (same address) but one course is £60 and the other is £77.81.

Having had an sp30 conviction the summer, when the time came to renew my insurance last week I got two quotes: one declaring it and one not.

The difference?

£7.

Obviously age and driving history and any number of factors come into it, but I was surprised it was so little.

When I got done all those years back my insurance went up by about £50 I think. Also being self employed the money I'd lose having a day off makes just taking the fine/points is better for me financially I would have thought.

I am definitely not one to criticize but the quote "only 38 in a 30" may be a clue about speed awareness.

To be fair did I say ONLY 38 in a 30??

Bear in mind that most insurance companies will not penalise you for the 'first' 3 points, but will heavily load your premium for a second offence. As for speed awareness course, they are a complete load of b******s. I was treated like a child and then patronised and spoken down to by a chap who could probably get little or no respect in his own life, bit like an Albion steward really!:fishing:

This sounds just the wife of a 'friend' needs.

Having already got 9 points on her license, she still has NO IDEA of how to keep to a speed limit. A few weeks ago she was collared AGAIN doing 39 in a 30.

Deciding the lesser of 2 evils would be for her 'hubby' to take the rap rather than her get an automatic ban, he stated he was driving the car and sent the form off.

Low and behold he got a letter back saying he might wish to reconsider what he claimed as the gender of the driver did not appear to match his statement - and voila - there was a close up picky of a female driver - ooops...

My 'mate' has now written and apologised for the 'oversight' and hopes he doesn't get charged with perverting the cause of justice - women eh

Opps,
Hope your 'mates' oversight doesn't land him in trouble, would guess the "might wish to reconsider what he claimed" comment was an opportunity for him to come clean without penalty, rather than, we don't believe you, type response.

However one has to question someones continued ability to drive if they "NO IDEA of how to keep to a speed limit."

It sound quite a dangerous situation, maybe they should consider retiring from driving. before some gets hurt or killed.

Well lets hope she gets a ban from driving and can then contemplate, whilst she cannot drive, how much the failure to keep an eye on her speedo has cost her, not only in taxi fares but the increased premium she is going to face when it comes to renewing her policy.

The reason she speeds is that she doesn't give a toss about anyone else when she is in her own little world, enclosed within her car. Now, nobody is perfect and probably speed now and again, 85 in a 70 for example but what planet are you living on when you continue to speed when you already have 9 pts on your licence. And lets be honest, that must be 9pts within the last 3 years if not less.

Beggars belief.
