I enjoyed it. A prefer the more even pacing of these films, a nice contrast to the sensory overload so that so much action cinema is these days.

Loads of nods to previous Bond movies and some genuine laugh out loud gags too.

Interesting and certainly its not as fast paced as Casino Royale or Quantum granted.

But then I don't think its supposed to be. Its a greatest hits as Pavillionaire said and primarily of FRWL, Goldfinger and definitely OHMSS. So its in essence a 60s Bond film made for 2015. Not surprising when SPECTRE were the main bad boys in the 60s.

It did have the feel of a "part 1" and this I think is deliberate because Craig is 47 now and will probably be pushing 50 for his last outing so it wont get to Roger Moore in his late 50s like in View to A Kill. The main villain is still alive, Bond leaves with his lady friend so its all set up to nick the last 10 of OHMSS and make the next outing a revenge movie like the fist 10 of Diamonds and better than Quantum.

Craig is def no 2 behind Connery and ahead of Dalton.
Thanks for letting everyone know what happens at the end of the film who haven't seen it yet:facepalm:

You are welcome. Although is there any surprises really? No reveal as to who the main villain is and Bond leaving with a bird really? REALLY? Watch Thunderball or Moonraker or Goldfinger. He left with all of those. oh and Spy Who Loved Me and just about all of them Casino aside. Suggest you read it again. And the thread title!

Blofeld survives YOLT, OHMSS AND Diamonds so you really need to get with it.

I am going on Friday and am hugely looking forward to it as it comes across as in the trailers as seeming to be pretty good.

It should hopefully be better than Skyfall as although it that was decent enough I thought it was let down by Raoul Silva's plan being utterly ridiculous.

Still, I am hoping Spectre will be a cracker, if nothing more than for Christopher Waltz who is an inspired choice to be a Bond villain.

Albion, England & Bond forever.

Thought it was great, and yes had the feel of a part 1.

That's one of the beauties of Bond, because with all the nods to the other movies and previous characters you could just as easily view Spectre as a grand finale.

The fact that we don't know whether Daniel Craig or Sam Mendes will make another Bond movie just adds to the uncertainty. Most of my drive home from Crawley last night was not discussing the movie itself but where Bond goes from here in the next movie.

Daniel Craig is excellent but there is a strong argument for someone else taking over the reins.

Looking forward to it... trouble is I will not have the opportunity to go for at least a week.. doh ! by then though I will have run Meade's Ball's Film 2015 review through the super-translator and found out what its all about

:)
I am seeing it tomorrow night and will try not to say very much about it. I must remember, though, to mention on there too that I saw The Lobster t'other evening and had a thorough loathing for it most of the way through. Bonds, I haven't a long history of bothering to see anywhere but on tv, and I haven't a burning desire to know of him much as a "character", so I am hoping it to be mostly throwaway and action-packed and with Waltz finding a campness worthy of any villainous idolater of heroic woman haters.

Another good Bond outing from Craig. Very enjoyable film. Not going to start rating it compared to others as I think all of his have been excellent films (one second and third viewings I have even enjoyed QoS which suffered because it followed CR).

Good to see them introducing old characters and setting it up for the next one, hopefully with Craig.

Theme song is the worst part of the film. Obvious nods to previous Bonds films. Enjoyed the Rome car chase and thought London looked great. And the prospect of the villian(s) to return.

Go see

Oh dear, it seems that, not for the first time, I am going to be in a small minority.

I was totally underwhelmed by this film. For me it was the poorest Daniel Craig Bond film (which still means it is in the top ten all time)

The theme tune, forgettable. Indeed I have forgotten it.
Car/boat chases not up to standard.
The locations not shot with such spectacle as usual.

But the story was the weakest part for me.

Didn't hate it. Well worth going to. But maybe the hype over increased my expectations.

Sorry. Slaughter me if you like.

If you like Bond you'll watch all of his stuff and be able to distinguish what is good and what is not so good.
If you don't like him then they are all pretty much the same ole same ole.

Saw it last night. Really enjoyed it - they gave the story time to breath, and really built up a sense of foreboding.

Loved that it tied in to all of the new bond movies, and gave closure to much of what has come before.

But the story was the weakest part for me.

Whether or not one song, or car chase, is better than another is purely subjective and everyone is entitled to their opinion but I have to disagree with you about the storyline.

The sharing of covert surveillance intelligence - and the threats to personal and national security this poses - is BANG ON TOPIC and very thought-provoking. Often Bond storylines are cheesy and extremely far-fetched, but I'd say the storyline is actually one of the major strengths of Spectre.

I have never left a Bond film feeling that I had not been entertained, yesterday was no exception, whether it was better or worse than previous Bond movies, irrelevant, I thoroughly enjoyed this and have no intention to 'slaughter' those who don't, that is up to you

I found Skyfall to be boring, and fanciful. The "villain" was the least threatening I've ever seen in any film and to be fair, the Blofeld fella in Spectre was no more intimidating. It was an easier film to watch, too long, but it was a decent film.

It wasn't as good as Spy, released earlier this year.
