The cheapest route will be along the coast from Brighton. Use you network card to Salisbury and then buy a standard return from Salisbury to Cardiff.

Do not forget that there will be a delay at the border whilst the local border control check your passport.

To avoid any trouble at the border I suggest taking a sheep with you - the customs officers will be putty in your hands

From the West Ham site regarding all trains to Cardiff:

"Alcohol Free

On the advice of the British Transport Police, all First Great Western services to and from Cardiff will be dry, with no alcohol allowed on board."

I'd have thought so. If they can get the mainline trains to impose no alcohol rules then it'd be dead easy to do it for a charter train.

I shall be driving, parking in the hotel car park, checking in, hitting the residents lounge for lunch and liquid refreshment, then strolling to the ground for the game
