Hi all
Posted ths on our Redpassion site
Been a red now for 41 years or so and having seen great days and anticipated matches such as Anderlecht, Rotherham Arsenal (twice!) etc etc I can honestly say that this weekend is one of the most hotly anticipated games ever for me. Not because of the anticipation of us pulling off a shock and marching on (which I feel we will) but because of the affinity between the two sets of fans, I have never experienced this with any other opposing clubs before. The media do not see this as much of a game but they are missing something here, can anyone remember any match between any 2 teams that had the potential to be such a love in between the supporters Don't get me wrong I care desperately about the result but there is so much more than the result about this game................ In these times of football coming second to finance, unscrupulous owners ripping the heart out of the game, prawn sandwich fans..........this game shows the real meaning of passion, the real place that fans hold in the game. This isn't the romance of the cup, this is football coming home to where it belongs.........to the fan. ..........the romance that is football. No matt what the result this weekend football has won, the real football fan will experience winning the FA Cup at Brighton . Put it in your diary you were there the day football came home.
Maybe a glass or two too many of wine made me write this but it was Red wine not rosey wine..............
*I remember reading a record of one of your guys day at the Racecourse on fans united day he was invited onto the pitch at half time and warmly applauded by all.......I can't find the link for it but an excellent read. Anyway apologies if we sound a bit emotional about Sat but when you've been through what we have you appreciate your friends ..........after all it isn't actually just a game.
