[Albion] Special Buses: Negotiations Ongoing with Alternative Bus Co + "supporter contributiion"

Shirley that HAS to mean that, while the travel is subsidised 'heavily' by the club, the 'supporter contribution' will come out of the extra we have paid by way of season ticket price rises ???
Every penny that the Club paid B&H Buses to provide the "Special Services" for the past two seasons came out of the income from season ticket sales. Or do people imagine that B&H Buses ran these services (with no cash income from fares) for nothing?

A "supporter contribution" can mean nothing else but an extra cash payment being required from the passengers that use the Special Buses, even though they've already paid the transport levy that is included in the ticket price.

Which begs the question, is there train travel for the Newport game? Does anybody know what is actually going on?
That's possibly the most important question.

Never mind having to pay a fare ... have the Club reached an agreement with Southern Rail to run a service that is frequent enough to get everybody to the game and home again afterwards?

We're getting a roller coaster?
They're still working on the final details.

IIRC, the first season's travel costs were by way of a £30 opt-in scheme, which was slightly 'abused' by some, meaning it was then added onto the next season's (last season) ST price for everyone to pay, whether they used the service or not. There was then a quite significant price rise for this upcoming season, so I wonder where the increased costs for the travel scheme are coming from, as it appears to be more of a subsidy reduction exercise going on ???

So hypothetically an OAP will have to pay extra to use the "Specials" as they won't be able to use a concessionary pass either ?

That would be my interpretation too. Surprised others read it differently...

The bus company certainly won't see any reimbursement from the council for any free travel given to older people and disabled bus pass holders. This is no different from last year, incidentally.

It depends on how you interpret "Barber Speak" , it could be spin before the forthcoming announcement.

This is copied & pasted from the Club Charter.

A Travel Levy of £50 per season, per adult, for 23 league games will be applied to all season
ticket holders; travel for cup games may also be included in the match ticket price.
The concession price is £25 for under-18s and over-65s. There will also be a levy added to
2013/2014 matchday ticket prices for both home and away fans.
The benefit to all ticket holders will be inclusive, subsidised bus or train travel within the
dedicated zone, subsidised coach travel across all the various coach operators or use of the
Club's park & ride scheme.

I don't believe that the "contribution" made by ticket purchasers (whether it was an opt-in scheme or a scheme that everyone had to pay for) has EVER been enough to cover the full transport costs that the club has to meet. Not at Withdean and not at the Amex.

Did anybody else get the Football Special bus from just up Hollingdean Road, along from The Vogue, that used to go all around the houses and finish at The Goldstone? Sixpence IIRC! Happy daze :)

If they start charging fans extra on the special buses, it will only be a matter of time before Barber starts asking for people to make a further contributions towards train and bus fares.

The clubs charter was altered today to suit the no transport to the Newport game, with no discussion, and more worrying nothing to show it was altered.

It's not worth the paper it is written on.

Articles of the Club anyone?

That will happen in the future as the club needs to reduce the transport subsidy it provides. Another £30 on season tickets and £2 on matchday tickets for 2014/2015 ?
