As was said then, it was always a case of seeing how they'd get on against a good team.

Uruguay had too much for them in the last group game, but Russia were much improved today and let the Spanish pass without threat.

70th in the World, the lowest ranked side going into their home tournament, and they've made it into the last 8.

Deserved for a nation with a proud footballing history.

but there was a foul on a Russian player before that.

Not according to the officials but if it makes you feel better, at least all the players were each fouled at some point. Never mind Spain just didn't have the quality today and go out. Simples!
