Swindon, but used to be Manila
As I said, the company denied it at the time (the Japanese are very diplomatic) hence why the BBC reported it that way. A high up in Honda management, in other words someone ITK, said that the factory will close if Brexit happens. Brexit happened. The factory closed. It's pretty clear to me but obviously believe what you like.
Yea your wife’s friends cleaners dog walker told you…. That’s what I call ITK

Brexit wasn't the sole reason but it was a factor.

No one in their right mind would choose the UK for a new factory to serve the European market for cars or anything else for that matter. Add on top of that another terrible trade deal that eliminated tariffs on imported cars from Japan

Even Badenoch has admitted the Tories had no plan for Brexit. They spent years infighting trying to work out a plan, business lost patience. In the we ended up not even in the customs customs union.

Swindon voted for Johnson in 2019 on mass, he was your man
Aston Martin, Moog, Britishvolt, Siemens, Johnson Matthey, Ciner, Forterra, Knauf, Envision AESC, Ball, Crown, Swizzels, Pensana, SeAH, Stannah, ITM Power and Rolls-Royce are just some of the manufacturers building new factories in the UK. Post Brexit

The real reasons why Honda left the UK/Europe in terms of manufacturing.
Their European sales had declined from 313,000 in 2007 to 145,000 in 2017/18. Mistake after mistake, beaten by the competition.

Swizzles, seems appropriate. By the way, their profits have nose dived recently…..are they still building the factory?

Many Brits used go to live in Spain tended to be old, on the large side and become a burden on their generous health system. In return we got loads of young healthy Spanish working in our hospitality sector.

It was a great deal for the UK, not anymore

Not quite correct. We 'old', and not all large, do not become a burden on the excellent Spanish health system, rather we keep some of the pressure off of the NHS. DWP pay the Spanish health service a fixed sum each year for every pensioner that has exited the UK and used the S1 form. It is far cheaper (DWP figures) to pay the Spanish system than it is for the average cost per pensioner health care in the UK. We also pay a % towards prescriptions, the amount between 5 - 10% depends upon income declared on your yearly tax return.
So we are not a 'burden' rather we help the UK by reducing demand and pay our way in Spain.
