Wow what a thread for a Saturday night,however not being a scientest like so many here,how is the situation of Radiation controlled/handled ? Surely any Craft re-entering Earth must be covered in Radiation and if so how is that dealt with ?

Depends what you mean by radiation. High-energy cosmic radiation would go through most substances. Like most particle radiation, the damage caused will depend on how it interacts with what it passes through. Electromagnetic radiation is quite different. If you mean the ship might be covered in radioactivity, I don't think that it would necessarily, although nuclear-powered craft would cause a problem on re-entry if they burn up.
