The most successful drivers in history have held no prisoners. Senna, Schumacher, Prost, Montoya, etc... would all eat their opposition alive, given half a chance. Why should Hamilton be any different?

Because from Hamilton it appears childish, petulant and inappropriate, far from the calculated agression, passion and driving prowess shown by some of the above mentioned.

And yet Schumacher's came across as arrogant, Montoya came across as slightly crazy, Prost was called the Prof, but Senna was the nutty South American that thought with his heart not head. All drivers have their own characteristics.

EDIT: Also having watched it now it was AFTER the flag had dropped. Can you imagine if this was after the race with the marshals at the side of the track. Maldonado was completely bloody stupid, and should consider himself lucky to be racing today. Also, who tries to cause an accident coming up to Eau Rouge?? The guys clearly got more than a screw loose.

Again I'm not excusing it but put yourself in Maldonado's shoes following Monaco. Hamilton is a child. When he grows up he may make a great driver, but just for now he is only a good driver.

I don't see how you can call Hamilton a child when Maldonado has held a grudge for, what, 3 months and then attempted to kill Hamilton. Heading into Eau Rouge without a front tyre would lead to a potentially fatal crash. As someone involved in motorsport I'd have thought you'd understand that.

I think I've said twice now I don't excuse the action, but I can understand the motivation....There is nothing clever about what Maldonado has done, although I think suggesting he was trying to kill Hamilton is ever so slightly too strong.

All seems a little inconsequential following that accident now....
