One of the charges relates to possessing a terrorist manual. It's all there.

I'm not sure what the questions would be other than that youngsters can still be radicalised by these things. That is how these things happen at the hands of unhinged individuals. There is a problem. That's why the police have whole units dedicated to it. Most of it comes to nothing- but then we have a tragedy such as this.

Nobody is trying to cover anything up. What folk are concerned about is that the discussions are handled by extremes. And that is what we saw last summer. It is not the way forward.

So not dissimilar to the rape gang scandal, which was to an extent covered up, or more appropriately purposely not uncovered?

It could be, but just because he had that booklet doesn’t mean it was a religious/Islamic motivated attack, albeit one that was based on that.

Also, surely if there was any evidence to support that, someone would be whistleblowing?

Not sure if someone having committed an awful crime getting beaten up in jail all the time is an actual thing or not. I reckon it isn't. In any case, it's best not to lean on that idea for any comfort. It just takes your brain to dark places.

In this case, there is no comfort for anyone. Only that he'll never be able to do it again. But sadly as we know, there will be other depraved people who will do depraved things which none of us can comprehend. There's just a tiny percentage who have that built into them and society has never and will never be able to insulate themselves from these people

That document is an intelligence agency book that analysis the training manual.

In lots of cases I’d agree, but I can’t see any positives to this person living on in our prison/hospital system.

There’s no doubt of guilt, no chance of redemption, only detriment to the victims and witnesses in knowing he’s still alive: there will never be a visit to prison from them where he expresses remorse. And if he makes it to 60 there’ll probably be idiots campaigning for his release (c.f. Lord Longford).

Sure I read somewhere that his defence team weren't offering any kind of defence and that nothing was submitted for mental incapacity which could have reduced to manslaughter. Will try and find.
