On a train...
Southern today say there is a 90% chance of significant snow. Buses have been ordered for 0600 tomorrow morning at "strategic locations".

Because trains are obviously unable to run with a couple of inches of snow on the ground

let me reiterate again

THERE WILL BE NO SNOW IN THE BRIGHTON AREA OVER THE NEXT 24 HOURS.

There will be rain/sleet from early morning to midday and maximum temps tomorrow of 6C 43F , normal for time of year. There will be snow from 15 miles inland and bad around home counties and southern midlands but none in Brighton.

5.30 pm - Brighton 7C 45F - mild for time of year, clear, dry

This really is quite ridiculous.

I am in BN1 and it is 7C 45F which is above average for an early February early evening, drive to the thermometer at the 7 dials if you don't believe me

1. Go to Brighton station as normal
2. Watch at least 3 London trains depart
3. Phone work and say I can't get in
4. Go home and make cocoa

Let it snow let it snow let it snow

Severe Weather Forecast

Due to a forecast of heavy snow during the morning of Thursday 8th February, there may be some disruption to train services across the Southern network.
The snow is currently forecast to start falling from approximately 03:00 on Thursday, with the heaviest falls expected during the morning peak hours.
The snow is then expected to clear by the late afternoon / evening peak of Thursday, although this is followed by a risk of widespread icy conditions, which may cause problems with electrical supplies and line-side equipment, leading to further train service disruption.
All snowy and icy conditions are expected to clear early on Friday morning.
For further information, please contact Southern Customer Services on 08451 27 29 20 or check the National Rail Enquiries website. www.nationalrail.co.uk/badweather.

Also quoted on the Metoffice website yesterday that Kent and Sussex would most likely see distruption to the trains. Mainly because most other counties have over head power lines.
