As I work for VT East Coast its worth pointing out that the Taxpayer is getting far more money from Virgin in premiums than East Coast made in profit. We have also invested over £21 million in rolling stock refurbishment, brought in free wifi, better catering, upgraded all station lounges, and introduced on board entertainment all on trains that have two years left until the new Azumas come in. That would have NEVER happened under Govt control but hey ho lets all buy into the fabricated RMT driven fantasy that nationalisation would be great.

Currently the RMT are trying to prevent ant train company from making any change. In the case of VT despite being promised that nobody will lose their job unless they want redundancy and nobody will be paid less than they are today.

We WILL run a full service regardless of any strike.

You sound exactly like SASTA

So still no trains for Friday and also no trains for Tuesday. At this rate if we get a home tie in the EFL draw tonight there will still be no trains for the 2nd round game.

If we draw Liverpool then where will it be played? Their ground isn't ready, they're saying if they get a home draw they will request it's switched to an away and we couldn't accommodate a sell out with no trains!

Sitting in the mess room with their feet up having cups of tea, SASTA won't let them work and that is a FACT

And thats the message that those guards really need to hammer home. Get the banners out. I posted a link on cheap portable ones. Easily done at a moments notice.

The latest update on the travel disruption.

Brighton & Hove Albion fans are advised that although industrial action has been suspended by Southern railway workers, the club has been advised that no train services will stop at Falmer station after 5pm on Friday.

Supporters travelling to our home match with Nottingham Forest are therefore advised to still seek alternative methods of transport.

Copied from a guards Facebook page, well ex guard as he got the sack for speaking on the radio and TV about the dispute

Why do GTR Southern persist with the nonsense about staff's salaries being guaranteed? This has never been an issue in this dispute. RMT and the conductors they represent are not asking for more money.

The truth is that GTR are offering the following to staff in order to persuade them to accept the proposed changes:

1) An immediate 10% pay rise
2) The improvement to pensions that this would bring about.
3) A reduction in the working from 5 or 6 days to just 4
4) A more varied and interesting job as an OBS
5) Removal of the threat of up to 5 years imprisonment if a passenger were to be injured as a result of a failure on the part of the conductor.

This is what conductors are turning down! Ask yourselves "Why? Are they mad?"

Its really very simple. The answer needs just one word!

SAFETY! Yours and that of everybody else!

Exactly this. Guards and drivers need to be seem in full uniform and making it clear (possibly through a banner) that they are there to work, point out empty trains that are cancelled and cause embarrassment to their paymasters. Staff have lost a lot of support through the strikes, here is a gilt-edged opportunity to win it back.

It's a great idea but it isn't as easy as that. Legally the guards are allowed to strike and display banners etc. Publicly bad mouthing the company during working hours would be seen as a disciplinary offence, hence staff being dismissed for Facebook posts etc

i'd have thought this was obvious: to reassure the staff that post role change there will not be salary change. if they didnt say this RMT would immediatly be claiming its leading to re-grading of roles etc.

Yeah, I get that. Hopefully someone clever comes up with an idea to get around that without getting the sack.
