Behind My Eyes
Gallows humour is humor about very unpleasant, serious, or painful circumstances. Any humour that treats serious matters, such as death, war, disease, and crime, in a light, silly or satirical fashion is considered gallows humour. Gallows humour has been described as a witticism in response to a hopeless situation. It arises from stressful, traumatic, or life-threatening situations, often in circumstances such that death is perceived as impending and unavoidable.

(PS: our government)

you should pop up to Victoria and entertain the commuters with your humour

http://www.standard.co.uk/news/tran...ounces-14-days-of-strike-action-a3351696.html

Southern Rail workers are set to strike for 14 days from next month in the long-running dispute over the role of guards.

The RMT union said the strike action would be carried out in five separate blocks.
It comes after months of delays and cancellations on Southern services, as a result of industrial action over changes to the role of conductors and staff shortages.
The RMT says switching responsibility for operating the trains doors from guards to drivers is not safe and want a “guarantee” there will still be two members of staff on trains at all times.
But Southern says the changes will mean an improved service for passengers and that driver-only trains are used safely across other parts of the franchise and the UK generally.
Commuters have already suffered 10 24-hour walkouts by guards in the bitter dispute

This one is particularly cynical. So the strikers are going to cost charities thousands and thousands of pounds as people won't be able to go to firework displays by train that raise money for charity. Lewes is the obvious one but there are others such Brighton Lions where people use the trains. Utter scum. They are no better than Govia or the government now.

SASTA haven't run a train service to Lewes for Bonfire Night for years, too much expense for too little income so take your OUTRAGE elsewhere

Ugh.

Sack of twats on both sides. Once again, RMT strike, Government won't respond. Workers, local businesses and charities are the ones that have to deal with it.

Load of bollocks .... from the Lewes Bonfire Celebrations website FOR THIS YEAR - "Your best bet is to either use the Bus, The Southern Railway Service or GM Taxi service" .... what you mean is they run no extras / specials - the standard services have always run ( except this year ). So the strikers ARE costing charities THOUSANDS. I wonder if the RMT ( well paid ) executives and members would like to make the lost money up ? I can put you in contact with Brighton Lions if you like so they can tell you how much down they are this year after the event ?

To be honest, I started with sympathy. Still do have some sympathy for the cause, but for the actual act of regular strikes? None what so ever. As for losing pay, the strikers have shown absolutely zero regard for the livelihoods of commuters so why should any of us care about the income you've chosen to squander over and over and over and over again?

The choice of the DATE is cynical - you can't tell me they didn't purposely choose that date for any reason than to cause CUSTOMERS and event holders ( including the Albion ) maximum pain and inconvenience ?

And what about the commuters that have lost pay, and in some cases their jobs ? The strikers couldn't give a shite about them.

I just worry that people think these workers are striking willy nilly and just to piss people off. Why would you do that for the loss of a your pay? Strikes should not be at the conveniance of the employer.

I've no idea from personal experience, but a quick Google for Lewes Bonfire trains turns up a load of results from recent years talking about how busy the trains will be and about queueing being in operation etc. Who ran these trains?

Can you put me in contact with the people at Southern too who have resulted in me having to completely MOVE location as commuting is no longer feasible with their disgrace of a service (on non-striking days). I'll value up the extra costs incurred and have to work out not seeing my family as easily/often now.

Nor should they be to cause the customer maximum pain. Especially as Govia don't give a toss about the customer either.

I understand that, but nothing is being achieved! Surely it's obvious that only people that are suffering are the commuters. I'm a trade unionist myself, but this whole situation is massively taking the mick. It's mostly Southern's fault, I'm not excusing them but RMTs act of continuous striking is not serving any purpose.
