Despite the critics of the introduction of U23 teams to the competition, this really is a fantastic experience for our youngsters - a competitive fixture against a strong professional side. Nowhere else would they get an experience like that as a team.

Apart from the League Cup matches that they've already played against Colchester and Oxford.

Technically it's not the U23 squad as the age limit is 21 for the academy teams entered (6 of the starting 11 must be under 21 as of June I believe). Agree it will be a good test for our developmemt players as our team tonight is a lot younger than those we've put out in the League Cup

I don't like what they've done to this competition but the upside is our returning players are getting a good run out.
