Southend - Offsides!!!

I think I'm missing something. On more occasions than I can remember, Lee Barnard was standing 5yds deeper than our defensive line in an offside position, to then move back onside (after the ball was played) and challenge for the ball. Not once did the lino flag him.
What am I missing here? Surely he was plainly offside.......

As explained on another thread Lee Barnard is excellent at playing the offside rule. He takes up a position 5 yds offside thus attracting the attention of the defenders who are watching him he then runs back to an onside position and waits for someone to mis place a header or kick and the goes for the dropping ball, the fact that somebody else has played the ball makes him onside.
