Now I can't say I hate them or anything, but I am enjoying watching the comedy unfolding at the wrong end of the M27.

Alan Pardew is a shit manager who I really don't like, and they've got a much bigger budget than most in this division with a £1m striker - yet they're further away from safety than they were at the start of the season.

Mind you, Dean Hammond, Dan Harding and Dean Wilkins should all get a nice clap from the travelling support when we go there in November.

Sadly it will all come together. Hammond and Lambert are good signings. Pardew isn't shit, and has a very good assistant in Wilkins.

They signed ex-prem CB Jaidi this week and a centre forward from Fiorentina.

Mid-table.

Coppell- excellent
Pardew - average (some promotions, some relegations on his CV)
Wilkins - good at this level

All together? Well the phrase "too many cooks" springs to mind. Hopefully. :lolol:

if you dont hate them, why are you so keen to see them fail ?
My brother is a Stain. This is an email I received from him on the 11th August:

All Brighton based non-Brighton fans always piss themselves at Albion fans deluded prediction of glory.

Saints = pieced together a team which is currently being built and easily managed a draw against one of the best teams in league. Signed top League1 scorer from last season for £1m and instantly doubled his wages. Would have signed Jahidi from Birmingham but for lack of work permit. Clearly showing intent in this division and destined to spend a minimum of 2 seasons here. Over 20k crowds. Clearly belong in a higher league. Club pedigree = mid to bottom of Prem or top end of CCC

Albion = usual mis guided confidence followed by defeat at home to Wallsall. New ground to follow but you can say that about Huddersfield and Darlington. Relying on 36 year old ex-average championship player for goals. Club pedigree = League 1 with the odd flirtations with CCC.

Predicted date of Saints leapfrogging Albion = Nov 14 at St Mary's

As you can imagine, I'm pissing myself at the moment. We've stumbled and stuttered this season, yet we're doing better than his shower. :clap2:

I don't know how people can say Pardew is a crap manager.

He did a teriffic job at Reading, and at West H'aaaa'm. Ok so Charlton it didn't work out but he said himself that the club was already on a downward spiral when he took over and he couldn't stop it.

For the record Southampton will be absolutely fine this season. I would say they can still expect to achieve a top half position once they click.

Parents divorced, our dad moved to Winchester. They had Kevin Keegan, we had Peter Suddaby. :(

Peter Suddaby.....good player, gave us stability and experience;was instumental in engineering our climb away from relegation in the old 1st Division, season 1979/80!!!

They key question is, my fantastic fountain of positivity, is when they will 'click'.

I am surrounded by Saints fans here and almost to a man, the are still living in denial, occupying a 'Premier League in all but name' delusional wonderland.

The sooner they accept they are in the THIRD DIVISION, the better it will be. Nearly half their fans have deserted them and they are already getting restless.

I do think they will eventually be OK, but will struggle for most of the season.

The only reason fans of other clubs in League One haven't yet developed a pathological dislike for Southampton is because, thanks to their handy points deduction, they're still so far behind everyone, nobody's thinking about them.

Were it not for that handicap, people would be every bit as pissed with their arrogant attitude as they were with Leeds. Debts? Write them all off! Cry all summer about the possibility of going bust! Don't pay your staff/players! Then appoint a new boss, chuck a million quid at another club for a lumbering, slow but goalgetting (at this level) striker and carry on like nothing happened!

Hooray for administration!

PS can I just ask: is there a right end of the M27??? It all looks pretty ugly to me.

Wally Downes always comes across as a bit of a cock to me.

As does Pardew.

So, I'm quite pleased to see them struggling.

Innit.

My team-mates on Sunday were talking about how the league one teams would all be 'looking forward to coming to play in a decent stadium'.

I pointed out of course, that Leeds is bigger, Colchester and MK Dons are newer, Norwich have 10,000 more STHs, and almost all of the others have more character.

They do think that this League One lark is purely a temporary thing. As did Leeds FOUR years ago...

Indeed. Some of these clubs really do seem to think they're stepping down fifty years, not one division. How many clubs in this league actually have really crappy stadiums now? Us, obviously, but I can't think of many more now that Colchester have moved to a new ground. The real disgrace stadiums are all either defunct or in League Two (hello, Chesterfield).

How utterly patronising, as I can think of several stadiums in this league that are actually superior in every way to St Mary's. MK Dons has much better facilities, Huddersfield is better looking, Norwich is a proper old style football ground, Charlton's is pretty impressive these days. And most of the above aren't flat-pack, IKEA style grounds like Southampton's is.
