In all the fun & frolics of Poyets appointment we seem to have lost sight of the fact that Sunday sees us pitted AGAINST Dean wilkins for the first time.
Baring in mind how well he knows the talents of Messers Cox, Elphick etc how will the saints play aginst them.

Also what odds on them having the magic whiteboard in the dugout ??

My concern is Poyet's confident assertion that "we will go there to win".

We could get pasted.

We are bound to see the single file line formation from the penalty spot to the D at every corner and hopefully some poor defending. Poyet will do a Keegan and we should scrape home 5-4.

Scrap the defence; play 4 up-front & SATURATE the midfield with 6 (keeping a high line, obviously).

Attack, Attack, Attack, Attack, ATTACK!!

All the more reason not to play Elphick, Virgo, El Abd and Cox for this match. They need a break.

From all accounts the back four played ok last night so I would have no hesitation in throwing them in against the Saints. Bennett, Dicker and Crofts in midfield with Murray, Forster and Craig Davies upfront. Attack attack attack and its the first 3 points in the bag for Gus.

Hammond will put in the game of his life. Lambert and Connolly are scoring for fun, and they have a VERY quick winger called Antonio on loan from Reading, who will put the fear of GOD into El Abd / Whing.

Hoping that the GUS-based euphoria will sweep us to an improbable 2-1 win.

Head says we'll lose 3-0.

My Saints adoring chum is very worried with the combination of

a] a free scoring Albion

b] Southampton never win when they're on the box [according to him] and

c] a new, young, credible Manager for the players to try and impress

I hope we do win or it's gonna be a painful trip back in the car with him!

Think as it's his first game ( and birthday ) he's going to want something really to celebrate. So will probably send out whoever he picks with all guns blazing with a
9 - 1 -1 formation.

All hail Gus !!!:clap2:

southampton are our bogey side, we havent got so much as a point off them in league or cup, home or away for donkeys years, they always beat us and i dont see that changing sunday, new manager or not. But if it does and we can get at least a point then gus would have already managed something a brighton manager hasnt since......... you tell me?? who was the last??

care to mention how many games we've had against them in, say, the past 20 years? can't be more than a couple, hard to get points from a team you dont play:lolol:
