My first thread, so apologies if I cock it up!!

What with the current economic climate etc etc, and assuming England qualify, how many of you are considering visiting South Africa next year for the World Cup? Are there other factors other than money that are putting you off coming here?

Just wondering like!!

Having been to the last three tournaments in Europe (that we qualified for) I'm going to give it a miss. From people I've spoken to who have been out for cricket and the last Lions tour it sounds like it could be a bit of a nightmare if you're not 100% organised with tickets, travel and digs.
South Africa is a country I've always wanted to go to, so I'll probably go over for the cricket this winter instead, Durban on boxing day and new year in cape town sounds like much more fun.

Interesting - thanks. A world cup trip done on your own rather than through a tour company or whoever could be very difficult to organise, so I suspect that you are right. Have not seen any arrangements yet for organised parties (but I have not been looking very hard!!). Some of the grounds you would not ideally want to stay anywhere near - you would stay outside the cities and travel in.

Cricket sounds good - maybe see you at Durban!! How's everyone in HH?

I have been down there and have to say Cape Town is magnifique!! (Lions Head is amazing)

AVOID Johannesburgh and in Durban they wil be setting up camps to be used for peopleoff the streets. The cameras will then come in to show how wonderful ZA (south Africa) is.

Ayone going will enjoy Cape Town, elsewhere, just be street wise!

The tempreture wil be good at that time of year for the England team as it is their Winter in ZA, so may it be humid buy will not be overly hot!

Correct re the temps - days will be nice - mid 20's other than in the Cape where it will be a bit colder, nights will be cold though - minus 11 here one night last year (am in the KZN Midlands about 45 minutes from the mountains!!) Durban wont be cold though. Also re J'burg - if England end up playing there, stay way outside and travel in.
