The system is there to help people who cannot sometimes help themselves but is in places in my opinion flawed, having parents who are both pensioners who having worked all their lives get no help aside from the state pension it is hammered home on a regular basis.

Fair enough but you have gone down a well trodden tabliod path. You are saying that pensioners cant get help and this must be the fault of scrounging single mums and aslylum seekers. That is the right wing view, an alternative view would be that we need a more equal society that supports all those in need, ie pensioners (on state pension as some pensioners need no help at all ) single paerents (the are some single dads you know ) and aslyum seekers (who probaly didnt leave thier wartorn country simply on the promise of free carpet).

We are an international country , a member of the eu and signed up to various international traeties. What you are proposing is verging on the line of the BNP. Close our borders and deport non nationals. What we need is a taxation system that doesnt allow bankers / multinationals and developers to get filthy rich why the rest struggle.

Is this what we've come to?
My mate owns a local carpet firm and he went out on three seperate quotes the other day.

The first was a pensioner who wanted her front room carpeted and was on a budget, the second was a single mother in her early 20's who had been given a grant of £100 by the DSS and the third was a very pleasant young man from Africa, who just wanted a price to have his flat carpeted.
My mate gave him a written quote of a competitive price at which he returned a couple of days later with the full amount made out in a cheque by the 'West Sussex County Council Asylum Seekers Fund'

Don't get me wrong I'm not a snob or a racist but it appears the only one whose worked all her life, ie the pensioner, is the only one paying her way.
