you get a BBc channel at the moment and Discovery Channel programs on demand with Channel 4 joining soon as well ..

you get on demand HD movies for about £3

loads of free stuff like documentaries, comedies, music gigs and videos etc etc

you won't be disappointed

I hope you got a good deal on your installation as well ??

cool , ta

yeah some offer came through post , one off £30 charge and then its £65 a month (excl sports) , basically gives me 20 mg BB, ,my current set top installed in bedroom , the V+ and some free phone calls

Been waiting for it to become a bit better. Can't wait , bit disapointed about HD for football though.

Is the HD brilliant ?

£65 a month??? Why not get Sky HD? £200 for the box then £40 a month and you get HD football.

The blue planet stuff does look proper good, the upscaling from normal Tv is proper good as well ..

We're going sky HD - and it better be bloody worth the outlay for all this stuff - blooming expensive....

what deal have you got, I can never quite work out how much sky seems to cost in comparison to Virgin

I know ther box you have to but and then pay £10 per month for the HD privilege

I assume you pay £10 extra a month for Setanta as well ???

Sky+ is about a billion times better than V+ in my opinion.

I have both, and the Cable boxes have always been very slow to respond to the remote control. The only thing that Cable does better is the on demand stuff.

We got the installation and box down to £149 - usually much higher though and they tried about three times to sell me multiroom (ie put our current box on our old tv in another room) but didn't want that - no house needs more than 1 tele in my view..

Anyhow - so :

installation and box £149.00 (one off fee) (inital quote £299)
current standard package plus one extra option (sports for us) £36 / month
HD fee £10 per month (so you get about 10 channels in HD inclding sky sports hd)

(we don't get setanta)

(So after initial outlay we pay £46 a month)

the V+ box though is far Superior to the SKY HD box it has twice the disc capacity and can record two channels simultaneously which the SKY box one doesn't.. The picture quality from the V+ box is also supposed to be much better also ..

I just wish it had more HD channels ..

I've been told it depends on which box the sky installer gives you. Theres several about although I've not heard of sky boxes doing two channel recording at the same time!

We're not huge movie people so gave that set of channels a miss. We get enough football and motorsport with sky so haven't needed to look at setanta yet.

I try to keep what we pay each month to a minimum as I still can't believe I pay what I do just to watch tv....especially after spending all that money on a new flat screen tv, then a dvd recorder, and now the sky hd...

Starting to wonder what the point is...

I can't rebut the disc capacity as I don't know what the v+ box is, but SKY + and SKY HD boxes do offer two channel simultaneous recording.

do you have to watch one of them though as it only has two tuners ???

My new V+ box does have 80 hours recording time, which is approx double what Sky+ box has, but I would struggle to find enough worthwhile broadcasting on the planet to fill it.

It may be a fault with my equipment, but I find the V+ box is also very noisy (well, the fan inside).
