Pedant Alert. View attachment 131724

Phil used Hiwatt amps, later on a Fender P bass and Dynacord (german) amps

I tihnk its well documented the guitarists generally used Gibsons and Marshalls though  kind of an industry standard post 66 when the Likes of Clapton/Beck/Page set the tone.

Anti pedant alert - I was specifically talking about Gorham and Robertson. :) Funny enough Gorham seems to like strats a lot these days.

As an aside really looking forward to the Lynott film ' Songs for while I'm away '

Someone left a cake out in the rain.
I don’t think that I should take it
Cos it took so long to bake it.
They might never have that recipe again....

MacArthur Park by Richard Harris

I kinda get that.

Back in Sussex
Plastic face can't smile the white out.

Is my favourite.

But Lloyd Cole is the absolute God of lyrics.

She looks like Eve Marie Saint in On the Waterfront
As she reads Simone de Beauvoir in her American circumstance

Great picture. He was as cool as a Polar Bear living in a cold store and I am pleased that I actually got to see him action with Lizzy.

On the Border
Madman drummer bummers
Indians in the summer
With a teenage diplomat
In the dumps with the mumps
As the adolescent pumps
His way into his hat
With a boulder on my shoulder
Feeling kinda older
I tripped a merry-go-round
With this very unpleasing
Sneezing and wheezing
The calliope crashed to the ground

Some silicone sister
With her manager mister
Told me I got what it takes
She said, I'll turn you on sonny to something strong
Play the song with the funky break
And go-kart Mozart
Was checking out the weather chart
To see if it was safe outside
And little Early Pearly
Came by in his curly-wurly
And asked me if I needed a ride

Some brimstone baritone
Anticyclone rolling stone
Preacher from the east
Says, "Dethrone the Dictaphone
Hit it in its funny bone
That's where they expect it least."
And some new mown chaperone
Was standing in the corner
Watching the young girls dance
And some fresh-sown moonstone
Was messing with his frozen zone
Reminding him of romance

Just three bits from the fantastic ‘Blinded By The Light” ...

The only single to give Springsteen a number single 1 in America, albeit as writer as it was Manfred Mann's Earthbands version that went to the top.

Wow ... I never knew that (or maybe I did - but I’d forgotten - which is entirely possible!!)! I have ‘The Roaring Silence’ on good old vinyl ... which has the full version of Blinded by the Light at just over 7 minutes! It’s a masterpiece!

OK ... so I just played the Springsteen version ... well about 30 seconds of it ... as the wife had a big knife in her hand (we are in the kitchen) ... and she was looking very threatening with it asking what the heck I was playing!!! Now listening to MMEB!!

Never understood this one by Albert Hammond?

Seems it never rains in southern California
Seems I've often heard that kind of talk before
It never rains in California
But girl, don't they warn ya?
Menopause

Lol not sure if this is tongue in cheek..the line is
Man it pours
