Can,t find a clip of the original but Cyndi Lauper's breakthrough hit "Girls Just Wanna Have Fun" was originally recorded as "Boys Just Wanna Have Fun" by Robert Hazard (no, me neither).

Yes Garage was genre of music before house music and to me makes more sense to call it garage, as that's where the bands learnt to play.
