A song called Blue Sky by the Allman Brothers band. Bought the Album in 1972, and it's been with me ever since. If you get past the naff lyrics, there are two great guitar solos, two good drummers working as a team and a bass line that could be a lead guitar line plugging away underneath. It is what I would listen to if I was feeling really pissed off, and has been for 40 yeears. I can't play it once without playing it three times. It is what Southern Boogie is all about from the people who invented Southern Boogie.

The Chameleons: Don't Fall

Don't fall! Don't fall!

Alone in a room I've been in once before
Shapes in the hall
I'm running for the door
I'm out on the edge
But I'm not defeated yet
I hear my name above everything else
Mark! Mark!
Above everything else
Don't fall!

It's a freak out
Nothing's familiar
Nothing seems to fit into the scheme of things
Seeing faces where there shouldn't be faces
No-one's ever certain what tomorrow brings
So don't fall my friend
All nightmares have an end.

Hiding inside
A room that's running red
The place to be
Exists only in your head
And the focus of fear
In the creases of a dress
A female dress
How did I come to be drowning in this mess
This ****in' mess
Don't fall

It's a freak out
Nothing's familiar
Nothing seems to fit into the scheme of things
Seeing faces where there shouldn't be faces
No-one's ever certain what tomorrow brings
Don't fall

I know your back's against the wall
But this roaring silence
Won't devour us all
Don't fall

Pretty much anything by Arcade Fire - I'll say 'Wake Up' and 'No Cars Go' for now, as they have left me feeling uplifted this morning.

This. There was once a very fine soul covers band - The Blunter Brothers - that played at the Ravenswood in Sharpthorne and included a very fine cover of this in their set.
