Song With a Great Bass Line

A couple of great bass lines in 'Under the sea' from the little mermaid, though I suppose their greatness is in the verse itself, the genius of rhyming the fish with instruments is delightful.

The newt play the flute
The carp play the harp
The plaice play the bass
And they soundin' sharp
The bass play the brass
The chub play the tub
The fluke is the duke of soul

Or as a serious response, I rather like the bass in 'Regarding Steven' by Blues Traveller.

Would be easy for me to post dozens of reggae basslines I love....but ive always loved this Soul tune from 83 by Lelah Hathaway. Relentless bass through the tune. Fairly reggae(ish) tbf.

Good call but so many great bass lines to choose from JJB.

Whilst technically nothing extraordinary JJB's bass tone is legendary. As for bass guitar legends I'd have to vote for Mark King and Steve Harris.

The late great Jack Bruce giving Clapton a run for his money on the guitar front

Thanks for posting that. I enjoyed playing it, even though I have the DVD

Definitely one of my top two favourite bands of all time, and a lot of that is down to Jack Bruce.

The bass line of the live version of Crossroads on Wheels of Fire is pretty good, too.
