You can very well go round and round in circles. The fact of the matter is, people who are investing in stock markets are more than liekly to use that money for other purposes and so it is leaving "healthcare" and going towards other products or services.

can you explain that argument further, i am not sure what your point is?

It was mentioned by Lokki, that profits from pharmaceutical companies are passed onto the average shareholder towards pensions or luxury items. Just because they have a larger pension does not mean that they will use that for healthcare. Money leaves the healthcare system and is spent on other commodities, rather than on health.

Plus, a bigger pension does not necessarily mean better health.

Profits passed on in terms of dividends, which to the average small investor is chicken feed.

Shares are valued by our system and our pension company's buy those shares and then the value of them is added to the company's worth. The finance houses then lend money based on the value which the pension company then use to pay the pensions with.

When the value of the stock exchange dives, evrything dives with it and then these firms realise they have overstreched themselves and go under.

Lokki...does that make sense?

One could use the argument that a bigger pension resceived does mean better health in that those people can afford private health care to get them to see a specialist quicker and a quicker diagnosis, rather that some poor old sod that has to wait 3 years for a hip operation and lives in constant pain.

My point is that it is all to easy to pin blame for everthing on a faceless multi-national company, when in fact these companies although far from perfect provide more good to society than bad. The argument is never so black and white was all I wanted to highlight.
