Don't forget he turned an average Yeovil team in a fairly successful one before it all went tits up for him. I still think he has brought some good players in. We've gone from having no midfield to a glut of midfielders. Slade just doesn't know what the best combination is yet.

We have got to go 442 on Saturday, surely. If all we have is Dickinsion and Davies fit, then so be it. There is no way he can justify one up front at home. I don't care how you try and disguise it by calling it 4-4-1-1 or 4-3-3, its painfully obvious we can't play that way.

No thanks. How many times do you want to change the manager? What this club needs is consolidation of management, not chopping and changing on the back of every bad result. We sacked a perfectly good manager who nearly took us to play offs, appointed another, then sacked him and now having appointed another one to sack him after just a few games just because gaybloke Coppell is available is nuts.

Don't forget Coppell left us to join a bigger club. He didn't keep us up and his temperament is questionable. His home is Selhurst. No need to change the manager now. I think there is a very good argument that White and Booker should go but not Slade, he needs time.

Agree 100% .... lost count of how many managers we have had (including short stops like Tinselwood and Booker) since Adams left us the first time ... and the chopping and changing since we were last in the Championship has left us as a struggling League 1 side

From his interview ""Now is no time for making excuses. When I arrived at this football club the training ground was full of excuses and opinions. That needs to stop. The only opinion that matters is mine. I will get things right as the buck stops with me."

Yes I noticed this on the interview as well. It could just be wording because I haven't actually 'listened' to his interview as opposed to reading it, but if this was a problem at the club when he arrived, why hasn't this been dealt with by now?

That suggests this 'soft underbelly' that he describes (and I think he's right about that), is more of a problem with certain players, and dare I say, staff!?

If his opinion is the only one that matters, and that's right it should be, then frankly he needs to get rid of those players, staff, whoever that is able to bring that into question.

There's clearly a problem. Norwich lost 7-1 because they didn't change their manager, and they were dogshit last season. Everton lost 6-1 because they have player turmoil at the club. A club loses heavily at this stage of the season when there is unrest or something is not right. The other two were quite public, ours is not right now, but we have to see some action by RS over the next couple of weeks to be sure that he is able to deal with whatever problem there is.

Saturday could be v interesting indeed.

Agree 100%. Don't know if it's the Murray factor- from the interview it sounds deeper than that. But like you I haven't listened to the interview, only read it. But I hope and expect to see some action over the next couple of weeks from Slade.

Personally i dont want that Palace Prick anywhere near this club ever again, I dont doubt his credentials, hes a very good manager but he IS Palace and always will be. His heart can never be in Brighton and apart from all that i couldnt take another 5-0 battering at Selhurst.

Now is not the time to panic. In this instant, easy-access world of ours everyone wants a quick win and wants it now. As has been said above RS needs time to implement and install his plans both on and off the field. Given his brilliant galvanising effect on us last season I have no doubt he will turn it round and pretty soon.

As for Coppell...I thought he was brilliant with us - nearly saved us from the most unlikely scenario when he took over from Hinshelwood, made some astute signings both loan and permanent, banged the drum for Falmer on many occasions and, above all, kept his dignity and integrity throughout. Tar him with the Palace brush if you will but see him for what he did not because he once worked for our detested rivals.

In Salde We Trust. Obviously. However, if the results go too pear-shaped for too long then a managerial change will be made. That's how life is. IMHO the best man for the job in that eventuality would be Steve Coppell, who is a true friend of the Albion. Here's a photo of him on one of the Falmer marches. He didn't HAVE to be there. But he was. Big cheers to the artist formerly known as Yorkie for the photo - which is one of my favourite Albion photos for all sorts of reasons.

Coppell is a smart man, he knows just how big this club could be with Falmer bulit.Remember he played in the early 80s at goldstone, in front of big crowds and only missed cup final because he was injured. What he done at Reading could easily be matched and surpassed by us and he knows it.

In my opinion Coppell is the best manager we've had in many a year. Yes he left for a bigger club, but I am of the understanding that he loved it here, and if he had been asked to stay, or told he had to fulfill his contract, he would have done happily.

I think Slade should be given time, but if in the future it doesn't work out for him, then I would love to see Coppell back here.

Nope. Not a wind up. Just think we need someone with strong contacts and tactical nous to take us forward.
You are spot on as we seriously do suffer from not having good contacts.Need a high profile manager who players look upto:whisky:

Getting league 1 cast offs is not the way forward although the stockport lads don't even get a look:angry:-in

A great manager like Sir Steve would never make the mistake of going back to your filthy no-mark little club for a second stint.
You were arsehole lucky to get him the first time around!

5-0,and you can't go home!

That's not how I remember it. He inherited a shambles and turned it round with skill and expertise.

He did a fine job and left, with honesty, when a a bigger and better job came up.

I would not be protesting if he was given the job, and make no bones about it, it would piss our resident Palace posters off big time. They KNOW what he could do with us in a new stadium
