Thought the ITV prog '1966: A Nation Remembers' was very good - and a reminder of just how much the world has changed.

Celebrating 50 years of being shit. Whoop-de-do

The thing is - we were shit before that as well! When you think we invented the game it's amazing how quickly that advantage evaporated. From the first time we played a competitive game (as opposed to all the friendlies we played prior to 1950) we've been disappointing in tournaments, 1966 was a huge, one-off exception: we're the Coventry City of international football.

It's quite sobering to see just how shit we've been. Since 1966 we've only won SIX matches in the knockout stages of tournaments. At least the notion that we're somehow, despite our terrible record, a top footballing nation seems to finally have died. I think the 2006 World Cup was the last tournament we entered with some people still thinking we had a team good enough to win it.

Silly old bat
We need an Ipswich manager to be able to do well. The highest achievement was with Alf Ramsey & the next highest was with Bobby Robson.

My point is that SKY aka EPL/FA RULE ENGLISH FOOTBALL. All the money that is spent on football for 'so called for development' of what ?

The attitude of English players is terrible, that's a major part that is over looked.

Look at the headlines this morning, our captain is trying to shift all the blame of the summers failings into the manager.
