“On the BBC’s own admission, in recent years, it did not, with the virtue of hindsight, give enough space to anti-immigration views or to EU-withdrawalists; and though he may have exaggerated, the former Director-General Mark Thompson spoke of a “massive bias to the left” in the BBC he joined more than 30 years ago.”

He added: “There was more internal political diversity in recent times, but that isn’t enough unless it’s evident in a wider range of editorial views on air.”

In my experience of appearing at the BBC, it doesn't tend to attract many right wing people who want to work for it.

I wonder why ? I was only reading something the other day about the biased BBC and I came across plenty of accounts all saying they were either jeered at or at worst givien their marching orders had they dared of spoken out against its corrupt left wing agenda. loads more wouldnt entertain it for that very reason.

Or, as history has frequently proved the lone voices challenging the orthodoxy are proved correct, whether it was Galileo arguing the the earth went round the sun, or Churchill's warnings in the 30s of a new aggressive militarised Germany. Both were labelled as cranks and nut cases.

In the context of the EU debate it is unquestionably true that the media orthodoxy is pro EU, and in the lead up to these elections we are seeing just how vicious the media and the established political classes are prepared to be to maintain the status quo with their attacks on UKIP.........a party with no current elected MP.

The BBC are at the forefront of this and by their own admission they have accepted that historically their editing has been much more sympathetic to liberal progressive agendas.........that is not disputable that is a fact. This is a separate point to their arrogance over senior management payoffs and scandals like McAlpine.

However they are still pursuing the pro EU crusade despite the Euro sceptics clearly winning the argument on whether the UK should join the euro 10 years ago...........plus ca change.
