Solly March

Personally I thought he was pretty poor in the 1st half. Got dispossessed quite a bit and wasn't having much luck down the flanks, both of which I put down to lack of physicality in his game. He grew into the game but really should have done better in front of goal on a few occasions. Still young and plenty of time to improve the physical side of his game but being young and being local doesn't mean he's immune to constructive criticism.

He got in some excellent positions, but very little in the way of end product. He could be a fantastic player for us, but needs better decision making and should not dwell on the ball for too long.

In case some of the knockers have forgotten, March is just 21. Let's give him time ffs.

He's been taking corner tips from JFC I reckon. He struggled to get them past the first man.

The raw materials are there though, it's up to us to improve him where he needs it and give him experience. He's got the makings of a very good player as long as he keeps the right attitude.

He barely played last season and is still only 21, a few mistakes here and there are expected! Overall he was very good last night, for once in a long time we seemed to threaten on the counter with his and Kaz's pace.

I don't feel that Solly performed well enough to earn any plaudits last night, but wouldn't say he played terribly either. Having seen him last weekend against Sevilla and last night, my biggest question mark about him at the moment is the quality of his delivery / final ball. Yes, he shows good pace down the wings, yes he gets into good positions, but sadly I'm not seeing anything of an end product with a final delivery in terms of service into the box / forwards.

Aside from the inch-perfect cross for Tomer, you mean?

His major problem, probably due to inexperience, is that you can see exactly what he is going to do and that he will probably cut inside to his left foot.

Plays his team-mates into trouble far too often with hospital passes that necessitate crunching tackles to save the day. Rarely goes down well with the team-mate the pass was intended for. They invariably turn round and give March a mouthful. Also invariably panics and snatches at shots on goal. Probably needs to drop a level on a season-long loan to find out his natural level. Currently it doesn't seem to be Championship level, sadly.

We'll see. I guarantee you'll be eating your words come the end of the season - in the nicest possible way of course.

He wasn't terrible in any way, but very greedy, and looked lost a lot of the time.
Needs a few games in the development squad and he will be fine , quality legend of the future.

I think if we had Will Buckley we might have won 3-0 and a fair reflection of our dominance

No he wasn't. He made some mistakes, as you'd expect from a young player, but terrible?..nonsense. For the first time in ages we had natural width on both wings and Solly made some great runs, and delivered some good balls into dangerous areas. You do realise he's just coming back from a long-term injury also? A bit more game time and experience and he'll be a great asset this season.

This, I thought he did well at times.Still needs to get totally up to speed with the game again after effectively half a season out. I think Kaz benefited also by having another winger on board. It seemed to ease the pressure on him and he had his best full game in my opinion.

March is the new Barnes. A Marmite player. I loved Ash but some others could not see why. When Solly gets the ball I feel the move is over. For me, he is the first name to get off the teamsheet, but others obviously think he was as good as Kaz against Forest. WTF? Well we'll see. Either way I thought it was a really positive team performance last night - the team really looks together - all for one blah, blah.

Isn't great to be arguing/debating about our wingers (yes wingers!) So many home games over the past few seasons when we've been crying out for two wingers.

It sounds like you want him to be the new Barnes figure.

Some people on here need to have a word with themselves. In Solly we have a young, very talented wide player who spent most of last season out injured. This is his first first team competitive match in ages and it seems that many want him to be the finished article. Unfortunately it doesn't work like that. Solly, like every top player starting out, needs games and he will flourish. Last night, I was surprised at just how good he was. We need to get behind him people because he could well turn out to be the real deal for us, let's not focus on the negatives. FFS.
