Even if Saints put in a bid of £2-3M we should still tell them to move long. We need to be keeping our best talent if we are going to get anywhere in the next few years. I'v already written off this season.

I think it's unlikely that we would even consider anything under £10 million for him. Outrageous, but he has immense potential. Hopefully a figure like that would keep clubs at bay!

Far too early to write off the season. Like everybody else I'm frustrated with the lack of movement in on the transfer front, but I'm sure Tony B will keep to his word and give us a decent squad by Sep 1st.

Why though? Surely a bad career move - first team football at a club with the top rated academy in the country, or reserve team football with not much hope of first team football for quite a while? Seems odd to me, but such is life.

with all due respect have you been to the Amex this season ? Albeit the first game, there is a feeling of doom and gloom around the place......feel that P&R doesn't just apply to getting to matches !!!

They have been saying they're going to buy 8 players around 10M each (Saints) and surely his value is similar to Ulloa so could be a cheeky bid come in. With sell on % as well we'd have to consider 7-8M. Obviously not going to even consider 2-3M that would be ludicrous given current price of English youngsters and that he's in the U21's so young.

But you've got to think. The club then would be well and truely ****ed If the fans upped and left.

I have no idea how true this is but I have got to the stage where it really wouldn't surprise me if we sold him.

For what it's worth, I agree with you about Solly's immense potential and the approach you propose to any Saints bid but my worry is that Saints have a fantastic record at spotting and developing talent so they may just be prepared to pay what we ask - especially given the money that they have in the bank from the sales of players.

Ah the stock reply to anyone that don't agree with whatever is done.
Tell me where would we be with 12000 rattling around in the Amex every week?
I'll tell you. We would be ****ed. So a little bit invested in the team would also ensure that we all came back and spent our money like they want us to do.

We have facilities that are top rated but as far as SM is concerned, they would surely have no bearing on why he would stay. Southampton have a very good set up and have produced plenty of quality players plus they have sold quite a few in the close season and would mean there are places in the 1st team up for grabs.

Anyone who continues to believe that our transfer strategy is based on FFP is completly deluded. The aim introduced by UEFA was to stop the billionaires of this world from controlling the game. It was not to stop small local clubs such as BHA from buying players in order to achieve the clubs ambitions.
The time for using this excuse has past. Our plan of hanging on in there, hoping that rumours keep the fans interested and then signing some mediocre has been at the end of the window so that we all give a big "Thank God for that" needs to be addressed.
I look at our club and have never been so uninterested due to the lack of ambition being shown. Wow we have a great new stadium and training ground, I strangely enough want more than that from my club. Problem is, many fans seem happy with a decent pie and a comfy seat and so the club continue to get away with it.
Solly, obviously ambitious should move on to a club that wants to be competitive, not complacent.

The aim of the club is to be sustainable. Our transfer policy is not about just selling our best players for over inflated prices, it's just that we have been unable to secure some of the targets so far. Wait till the window closes but until then, stop wetting yourself.
